I am looking at putting a 350 in my 32 open hood/no fenders ford. The engine builder is telling me to check clearance from the front of the block (Front of block, down low by oil pan, drivers side where the 2 bolt holes are for the old chevy motor mounts) out towards the front of the car is 8" to the end of the lower crank/blower pulley which is 3.5" wide. I have about 7 7/8 inches clearance. I ***ume I need to move my radiator out a half inch or so? Or are there narrower blower pulleys? If I do need to move my radiator forward a half inch or so, what is the best way to do that and bolt it in down? Thanks for any help you can give me as to how you did it or how yours is done.
you could use a 2" Gilmer set up rather than the 3.5" pulley to save some room and look more period correct as well
You should have no issues without a hood or side panels. I'm running a full hood and grille/radiator in the stock position. Cheated on the firewall. Its tight.
get an extra block or one of those plastic ones and mount all the blower parts and then measure and build. to do it any other way is sloppy and asking for trouble. to harsh? ok. take your time and plan the build and mea sure everything or you are asking for headaches later. fail to plan-plan to fail. words to build hotrod cars and motorcycles by. another one: God help me and thank you God! seriously......
PM DW here on the Hamb. He has a similar setup in a Model A. I'm sure he can tell you what to expect.
