I thought I'd post up these pictures of my black sedan with tan (technically "Chestnut") wheels. When I was trying to figure out what color to paint my new wheels I searched the HAMB archives here for examples of black cars with tan wheels and couldn't find much of any. There were all kinds of red wheels, orange wheels, green, blue etc. but not many tan. SO I figured I'd post these two pictures up as an example if anyone else does a search looking for simillar results. I'm still not 100% on the caps but think I'll keep the "monkeypoop" brown color on the wheels for now. Without center caps. With center caps. Jay
I ordered "Monkey Poop" brown for mine when I ordered the powdercoat. Needless to say, the color I got wasn't what I ordered... but I liked it OK anyway. Still, would have preferred something like what you have there AlienBaby. Any progress on lowering it? Good choice IMHO. JH
Alienbaby, I like yours with the caps and rings! Granted, my car is not black (wish it were sometimes!), but here is my '37 Terraplane with khaki-colored wheels, on the original Hudson Pea**** Green finish:
Thanks for the positive comments fellas. Time will tell what I do as far as running the caps go. If I don't run the caps I think it will need something. Harrison- no progress on lowering it yet (obviously as you can see in the pictures...) and I think that might be the main thing that's still really bothering me about the general look of the car. I think I'm gonna start with ordering that Posies spring and shackles for it in the next few days. Today was the first day I've driven it since November. Felt good to get it back out on the road! Patrick66- Great looking Hudson. You don't see those everyday, do ya? 36 3 window- hard to argue with the look of that car. Very subtle...cool. Harpboys4- the interior is mostly Mexican blanket...but under that it's a tannish-gold color. At some point someone had painted the steering wheel and column along with some of the other interior parts the "monkeypoop" brown. I always thought it looked cool while I was driving around. I guess that's where I got the idea. Problem was I kept coming back from the paint store with the wrong color samples- I ended up chipping a tiny piece off of the steering wheel to bring with me as a sample. Jay
