(Please keep the compe***ion and **** slinging on the track or off board. Thanks)

Guys this is the official public announcement for Road Devils Car Club's Thaw Out II. This event will be held May 8-10, 2009 at Pacemakers Dragway Park (http://www.pacemakersdragway.com/) in Mt. Vernon, OH.

For those that attended Thaw Out I a couple years ago, this will be completely different!!! Our small little car show has grown up and wants to go racing! So who are we to stand in the way? What a great way to shake the dust off the hot rod after winter storage like a few high speed blasts down the track!

Racing and Car/Bike show is open to all pre-1972 american cars and "Traditional Style" bikes. We will be having certified car/bike guys watching the door to lessen the chance of off topic vehicles slipping through.

The racing will be heads up, arm-drop, grudge match style racing. 1/8mi runs. No brackets, no eliminations, no winners. Run what ya brung. Line up with whoever. You are racing against yourself or whoever you pick. Run as many times as you are willing to wait in line. Awards (if any) are at Road Devils descretion.

This event is meant to be just for fun racing and to allow the average joe to get on the track and thrash on their car without the intimidation factor that is normally present with stuctured races. We hope that it brings a feeling of nostalgia similar to when drag strips first started opening their doors to the local hot rodders.

If you are concerned about the cost of your nitro, want to ***** about 1/8mi runs, pissed that there won't be a purse or trophy, want to ***** about lack of brackets.... then don't come. This is for fun. Leave the drama at home and come have a good time running the track, camping, and bench racing with your old and new found friends over a few cold ones.

There will also be a seperate car/bike show area. General admission gets you into this area. No registration. No registration fees. No BS. We are trying to keep this show as cheap as possible and offering the biggest bang for your buck. It's a ****ty economy and we're all in this together. If you want to spend some money, consider making a donation to the club, or consider buying some of our shirts or other support merchandise. Or heck, bring out your race fuel guzzeling big money drag car that you wouldn't normally bring out and give everybody a show. That has it's own value. We do this for fun, not for money.

    SPECTATORS WELCOME!!!!
Camping at the track is encouraged and included with admission. (Space permitting)

$10 general admission (good all weekend)
$20 if you want to run your car (good all weekend)
Vendors fee is $20/spot (10ft wide)

Gates open at 4pm on friday. Test and Tune 5pm-10pm.
Saturday racing starts at 9am to mid-night
Sunday use for a pack-up and leave day

More information and a website will be on the way so don't get your ******* in a twist. In the meantime, please mark your calendars, as this will not be an event that you will want to miss. Spread the word.

SPONSORS WELCOME and NEEDED!!!!: Contact: hotrodderguy@yahoo.com

we are hoping to get a little more clarification on the way the track is going to handle it. Their general rule and tech proceedure is posted here:
    http://www.pacemakersdragway.com/rules.html

However, we realize that many of them are going to be non-applicable due to lack of cl***es, brackets, etc

At this point unless the track tells me differently, these are the things I would pay attention to:

Taillight:a functional light must be visible from the rear of the car. This eliminates all references to night racing only, meaning a light must be functional at all times.

Helmet; Drivers in all 13.99 (*8.59 1/8 mile) or quicker cars and all dune-buggy type vehicles running 14.00 (*8.60 1/8 mile) or slower must wear a helmet meeting Snell K98, 2000, 2005, or SFI 31.1A, 31.2A, 31.1/2005, 41.1A, 41.2A , or 41.1/2005 Specs. Drivers in supercharged, front engine, open-bodied cars and
Funny Cars must wear a helmet meeting Snell SA2000, SA2005, or SFI 31.1A, 31.2A, or 31.1/2005 Specs. See General Regulations 10:7 in your 2009 NHRA rulebook.

Helmet Expiration Dates; Effective January 1, 2008, where a Snell or SFI rated helmet is required in compe***ion, the Snell 95 and SFI 31.1, 31.2, 41.1, and 41.2 helmets will no longer be allowed. Reference your 2009 NHRA rulebook in General regulations

Oil-retention Device; are recommended but not required. Unless running a super series cl*** or E.T. cl*** requiring one.

    Clothing:
It is the responsibility of all racers to be within compliance with NHRA rules pertaining to clothes, No shirts will be allowed without sleeves, every cl*** is required to have long pants on, no shorts. Helmets are required for any vehicle that runs faster than 8.25 ET along with all Motorcycles and Jr. Dragster Cl***es. For any pit vehicle races Helmets, long pants and Jackets are required. In ALL categories for 2009, NO NYLON CLOTHING OF ANY KIND WILL BE ALLOWED, regardless of cl*** or ET. All safety equipment and clothing required for your ET is mandatory.

    Personnel Allowed on Track:
All racers, spectators and pit crew personnel are to remain behind the fenced areas and are not allowed upon the race track area! With certain cars and racers, sometimes they need to have one of their pit crew ***ist with positioning their vehicle in the water box properly, we will allow only 1 pit crew person to perform such a task!
Once that person has positioned that racers vehicle within the water box, that person must move behind the guard rail! That person is not allowed to follow their vehicle up to the starting line and watch from the track racing area! If a pit crew person interferes with any function or causes any distraction with PDP personnel being able to perform their job effectively, then that racer will be automatically disqualified. No one other than authorized track personnel is allowed on the racing surface at any time.

    Pit Support Vehicles
NO ONE WITHOUT A VALID STATE DRIVERS LICENSE WILL BE ALLOWED TO OPERATE A PIT VEHICLE OF ANY KIND! Anyone found to be in violation of this rule, will have their pit support vehicle confi****ed and returned back to you at the conclusion of the event. All Pit Support Vehicles shall be parked by the PDP Retail Center building and not in the Staging Lanes! The only exception to this rule is for the motorcycle riders which use another push vehicle as a support vehicle and during the Jr. Dragster program. Motorcycle support vehicles still can not be operated by anyone not licensed!

    Speed Limits:
Anytime anyone enters or operates any motorized vehicle upon PDP property, the maximum Speed Limit is 5 MPH! No One is allowed to exceed the 5 MPH limit, if you operate your motorized vehicle in a manner not safe for all participants and spectators, then you will forfeit your opportunity to race at that evenings event! No Refunds will be allowed, you will be allowed to stay and be a spectator, and you will not be allowed to participate. Any of your pit crew that violates our speed rule, will cause you as the participant to be disqualified. No Exceptions!

Besides those it should be normal common sense stuff:
    -Seat belt (lap or harness)
    -Firewall
    -Overflow tank of some sort
    -Helmets for those driving roadsters/convertibles
-No Drinking prior to or during racing
    -Long pants and sleeved shirts

When I get any additional details I will be posting them here.

Tech will be quick and dirty. Please bring your sharing spirit if somebody ends up running fast enough to be needing to borrow a fire-jacket or helmet.

    Thanks.

Just to clarify for me and others, is it $10 a person, meaning me, my wife and 2 kids(12 & 15) will be 40 bucks for 1 day?

No harm, just need to know the situation. Lots of our guys have kids.

    Thanks

There might be a lower kid's price. We are working with the track on that. Most likely the cutoff will be 13 or 14 if it happens.

But yes, each spectator is $10. That is the track's normal admission fee despite the event. Road Devils are not making any money on this. We just want to have some fun.

If you want to run the track it's $20, but that includes your general admission and only applys to the owner/driver of the vehicle.

Keep in mind that the admission price covers all three days. $10 total for 8, 9, and 10.

bump coming up soon. We heard lots of talk about grudge match-ups while in detroit for autorama. Some 6 banger and 4 banger match-ups would be great to see. Spread the word and let's have some fun.
