What is something like this worth. My boss has this and it is just rusting away in Abilene, KS.

That's probably why it has been setting for years. He thinks it's worth more than what people offer. I was just curious, I'm not looking to buy, just curious why people that are not going to restore something hang on to things.

That 40 Std. Coupe in the condition shown, under the ***umption the other side and tailend is in like condition, would be offered at swap meets around here for $3-4000 maybe a bit more with matching ***le. Who knows what it would sell for?
Bumpers and brackets don't matter much if they are missing. Good sheet metal and complete means a lot. The condition of the rain gutters would be an issue to some since they are really not replaceable without major surgery.

Fairly unusual to see a 40 Std. with a glovebox clock. The late model wheel could be hiding a late model colum but it is hard to say. Mercury door handles though.

That's sad. Looks like someone just drove up in the yard, got out, and walked away. Why can't people store this stuff inside. There are 'you-store-its" everywhere. The cost would be easily recovered whether you kept it or sold.

Two years ago I paid $100.00 for a '40 coupe body that was modified for stock car racing, but never used. Took four of us to carry it up a hill and load it on my trailer. Once the seller got a good look at it he handed me back my Ben Franklin. That '40 is a real project, and will become a money pit quickly.

Is it possible to get the boss motivated enough to move it inside somewhere?

Sitting on the dirt like that the floor is probably history and the frame may be rotted out too. I'd want to take a real close look at it after it's dug out of the dirt before my hand went towards my wallet.

Trans tunnel has been modded for floor shift - what engine and trans has it got?

It is really sad to let such a great Ford go to waste like that !

Just ask him what he wants for it and go from there .
    I would go for at least $3000 + .

Why ask us? - just get him to tell you what it will take to buy the damn thing! If you are not looking at buying it, p*** the deal on to the HAMB.

That's not a trans tunnel, it is a removeable transmission cover and the hole looks very stock like it might be the one one from the 39 they got the floorshift trans from. The accordian shift boot is some lat model or aftermarket junk though.

Thought I would post the rest of the photos I took. Hopefuly someone can give it a new home. It's just wasting away where it is now. There's also a truck from the same decade there.

A friend just got an extremely good deal on a 40 coupe for $2500. This one looks to be in pretty good sheet metal shape. Most floor parts and body parts are available and can be brought back pretty easily. Looks like the frame is off the ground. I have seen project coupes go to $6k.

If you did something to cover it and protect it, and show your concern for its well being, your boss will know that you care.
I have seen tragic storys relived in visual display of a rotting car because it belonged to someone that has past on and they have memories that are connected to the vehicle. I know where there is an original 65 hipo 289 fastback rotting to the ground because it was intended for a child that found a gun in his dad's truck and killed himself. That was thirty years ago and as of 2 months ago the car is still in the weeds next to the barn.
If you show concern for the car, you might find out the history. I will never ever sell mine. The keys will be the last thing they pry from mt dead hands...because of my now p***ed Dad.
