....a day at the bone yard

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by loc8tor, Mar 22, 2009.

  1. Yesterday went to the bone yard to get the rear seat for my 47 dodge, while I was there I snapped a few pictures. Lots of 60s stuff still left, 40s-50s not as much, didnt see any 30s stuff, not bad I guess, for those of us in the "rust belt". Like I said they have plenty of material/parts, but I think, they think most of it is made of "unobtainium", prices are a little high, but then again, not to many palces still have this stuff...

Still looks more than worthwhile to check out, so... what yard is this, & where exactly?

    Cool pic's

I like the beat down trail in front of all the cars.

They didn't make very many of those 2 door Kaisers.
    Oops... it's a four door.

I think that Kaiser's a 4 door, you can see the rear door handle.

That 4 dr slant back car without the front clip or trunk lid looks like it has a '79 Z28 Camaro "turbine" wheel on it. If the rear end underneath matches the wheel, the 10 bolt with 3:42 or 3:73 and posi would be worth pullin out if it was cheap enough. Perhaps an earlier 12 bolt could be hiding under there? Ya never know... I love walking through boneyards. Much better than a stroll on the beach.

edit: On second look, it appears the front frame rails are from a 70-81 F-body.

The tree laying across the back of that wagon makes me weep:(. Very cool looking yard. Your lucky they still let you walk around. Alot of yards around this way have stopped doing that.

Josh, are those turbine wheels stock on the camaro? I have a set of those or ones that look like them that came with my 40 dodge. My dodge was subbed with a 79 gm subframe and a pair were on the front of the car. later shawn

Yes they were optional (N90 option) on 78-79 Z28 equipped Camaros. The Berlinetta Camaros could be optioned for them also, but they were only 14", not the Z28's 15"X7". The pic I showed is my 79 Z28 at a cruise-in some years back.

Josh, thanks for the info. That would clear up some info about my sub. I was told it was from a Firebird, so maybe it was from a camaro instead, since the other GM parts I got with it was from a camaro. later shawn

I only live about a half an hour from there and no I don't get access. It's a shame to see all those cars just sit there and go to waste. Once and awhile there will be some older stuff out in the u-pull-it section. I got a set of 54-55 headlights from a Pontiac a couple years ago. Seen a early 50's chevy panel truck that same day. later, shawn

  29. Nope that is definitely a 42 Chrysler. 41 didn't have those stainless strips but rather a V shaped grille. That 42 and the one in your boneyard really needs to be saved big time!
