    Hi,

I'm still fairly new to the site but have received a lot of good info from the postings. I also picked up my intake from a fellow member. If you'd like you can check out my project at http://www.cardomain.com/ride/3304881
It's an ongoing thing and some of what I've done is just what happened to grab me at the moment. I enjoy being able to "tinker" with it and get a great deal of pleasure from my accomplishments as I'm sure you all do. I welcome your comments and love what you all are doing!

    Keep up the good work,

    John:)

Looks like you are moving right along in making it your own! A couple questions for you. How much work is it to remove the steering and shorten it up? And I would like more information on where you got your speedometer and how did you fab it up? I would like to do exactly what you did to mine. Thanks

    Mike

Hi Todd, That is a VERY nice ride that you have! How's that stock front suspension working out? John

    Hi Mike,
Got the speedo from JC Whitney. Had to modify the back of the cluster and the speedo some, but the housing on the speedo is plastic and has a theaded ring to hold it in place so it's not too difficult. The biggest h***le was getting it out from the dash and back in again!

The column needs to be disconnected from the frame and suspension and then from the linkage and dash and it slides out into the p***enger compartment.
I cut the outer housing with a cutoff wheel in my grinder and once seperated chopped out the excess.(4" in my case). I then cut the inner shaft. I welded the inner shft back together and added a sleeve over that and welded it also just for safety and extra strength. The outer tube is then welded back togerther and finished. The column shift rod is shortened (same amount as column) and the end ground to fit back into the clamp.

Hope that answers your questions, if not let me know.
    John

Here is the speedo info from JC Whitney ; Cl***ic Series Chrome Speedometer ZX455213 Each $57.99

Looks good. I'm glad I didn't have to replace my floors.

Very nice work, the pics of the floor replacment will help. I will be replacing mine soon. Just on qustion, do the pans come with the threaded female slots to bolt the seat down? Min are completely gone so I can't tell from looking at mine.

Nope, The pans don't include the seat mounts. I had some of the original floor with the threaded inserts left and just bent some new sheet metal over the old and tack welded as I went. If you have nothing left, you will have to "create" your own. Good luck, John
