The Chris Alston Ch***isworks shockwaves have a ball joint at the top to reduce the bind in the travel.

  3. you think its bind I have a heim joint on the bottom and bushing on the top and it doesnt look like there is bind it has always moved freely it is a good idea thanks

The only thing i have heard is to make sure the shock wave DOES NOT bottom out. You have to use a bumpstop of some sort.

I worked for a place for a long time that used them and we always had problems with them.

everything from blowing out to cracked housing.

and Cracker Head is right, do not let them bottom out, that is the main cause for a blow out.

  6. thanks guys for the help will let you know what happens

Had a buddy who was running them in his late model custom Impala, he needed to keep spares with him because they would break, usually 1K miles from home at an event.

Only issues we ever saw were them bottoming out from not using stops.

Ask Flt-Blk, he has had two of them break in his El Camino. We've had a lot of problems with them leaking at the shop where I work.

I've put probably 10k miles on the 1st generation pair in my '92 Caprice wagon and had one break during that time because it was hitting the frame where I didn't allow for enough clearance. The only other issues have been with the supplied bushings compressing under the weight of the car, which I've since replaced with spherical bearings.

You need to ensure that the body has plenty of clearance around it and isn't contacting anything that would cause a side loading. Even if it appears you have enough clearance, the bushings may be deflecting enough to cause contact under compression. Are there any scuffs or scratches on the body that would indicate contact?
