That is at most about 1 hr away from the airport? I've only really been on the north side of the airport in Hapeville and I hate that area. I seem to be being forced to relocate. I may need a cheap place to stay for a while at the start too, so if anyone has a room they want to rent let me know.
I'm in Jonesboro. Clayton County used to be airport workers, but Riverdale and Forest Park like Hapeville, too rough to want to live there. I'd say look down the road in Fayette and Henry counties. That's where they went, but housing costs higher than Clayton. New houses about $140K in Clayton, $170 down the road.
I used to live down by Newnan at that place wasn't too bad. House were reasonable when I left. You could also check a little north in Sharpsburg, Tyrone or Peachtree City.
If you are looking for cheap and fun, look around Little Five Points. There may be some cool people to split a place there with.
I just read your other post - I didn't realize you had a family - probably ought to look North East to North Altlanta - It will be about a 45 minute commute but worth the surroundings. South Atlanta inside the loop SUCKS. South Atlanta outside the loop can be OK depending on har far south you go. MACON sucks as well - so don't go that far.
I live in Jefferson: about 50 miles NE of Atlanta, on I-85, off the I-285 loop. Takes me about an hour and a fifteen to 1.5 to get to the Airport from here. Fifteen-25 minutes south of me on I-85 is real nice, too. Sent you a PM -Brad
[ QUOTE ] MACON sucks as well - so don't go that far. [/ QUOTE ] I agree im about 20 miles from macon in Reynolds. We have the Silver Dollar Dragstrip, coolest thing round here.....JAMIE
Cool, more atlanta hambers....i'll be living in Norcross by mid october, or shall i say after the 100 pileup in ILL, then moving outta the midwest
You get here just in time for Moultrie swap meet. Last weekend before Thanksgiving. It'll make you glad you moved. As to Old Car Pilot, I work on the NE corner of Atlanta. 38 miles, about an hour if I leave the house at 6:00. Just crossing the perimeter at rush hour (285E to 85N is thiorty minutes to an hour for the last two miles at 5:00) North side commute will kill you. If you find an area you think of moving to, rent a motel room and make the commute and decide if you can live with it.
as that swap is getting closer make sure you post something here or pm me. by they first week of oct busy busy gotta make at least 2 trips from milwaukee to atlanta, maybe more, like to go and meet up with the area guys
[ QUOTE ] Move? What do you mean move? What is up with this? Get a new job! [/ QUOTE ] Hell its the only thing I know how to do. I wish it was as easy as get a new job. Its going to SUCK to leave all of "THEM". And we were just feeling like we were settling in.
I'm actually gona be relocating up that way myself. Possibly Marrieta. I have a buddy that lives in the Buford area. It's pretty nice up that way, but it's a minumum 45 min drive from everything.
My son moved out of Stockbridge about a year ago. Seems like a nice place to me. Just South of the airport. I saw a lot of rods and Harley's when I went there. Tommy Mc
OCP, I talked to Deyo tonight, tough break. Welcome to "hot'lanta" pimp! Phx has America West Oh well, a few more years they wont be able to push you around anymore! Got the movies today, thx
Not too far from the CNN building looks real nice......not! all joking aside i spent a short time in Atlanta & as the others said Marrieta struck me as real nice area.
The most beatiful place I have ever been to in Georgia is a place called Cassville a little boreing but reasonable priced real estate and mabe a little long of a drive to Atalnta. . Dawsonville and Woodstock are not bad. by all means look around but Macon does leave a lot to be desired. Good Luck Bobby....
