Heres the last update: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=343731 I have been working on this thing all weekend. Didn't get a whole lot done, but what I did get done helps to make this look like a hot rod more than just a pile of parts. I got the quarter pannel repaired and semi-hung. Still have a little left to do before it can go on for good. Also made headlight stanions and cut/layed back the windsheild. It is only a 2" chop. I was going to go more, but I kinnda like it as is. Any input? I'm going for the early 40's soup job look.
Chris, It's looks *****in' so far, but I think it needs another inch or more out of the windshield to compensate for the how high it's going to sit. Run a full hood and squirt the body and frame in a flatten single stage dark burgundy.
What did you do to remedy the short steering column? I like the mild chop as it does not become a focal point but more just another detail that ads impact and appeal to the whole package. I keep this issue of Hot Rod in my tool box as an inspiring example of the perfect Model A roadster. The stance, chop and full hood once again speak of the less is more philosophy...
The chop is mild but the rake does the rest - looks right. Are they 35/36 headlights your using? Spencer
I think he's building a dual purpose ride. Those are for Quick release when Drag Racing. This whole project has kind of got me thinking about some Loose pieces I have laying around. I'm taking notes. The Wizzard
Nice to have a little wind in your hair. I don't have any hair. Don't have a roadster either. Still, that car looks perfect.
Chris, I see a Pre-War Soup Job if I'm not mistaken!I'd say the chop is just right and looks GREAT too! Nick.
Thanks everyone for the coments so far. Yes, it will have mechanical brakes, and yes I do want to run a full hood (just don't have one yet). I am really torn right now, I like the windshield as-is, kinnda looks mid 40's highschool street car. BUT, Zachs photoshopped version looks great as well...I just don't want it looking rediculous. I plan on plating the frame, so whatever I decide on will be pretty perminent. I have some work to do on the coupe to get it ready for this weekend, so I have a little time to look at it/think about it. When I have some spare time in the daylight I'll roll it outside and eyeball it. Oh yeah Spencer, they are BLC's, not 35/36 lights. There is no rings on em yet, so they look a little funny.
You're making great progress on the roadster, and I really like the windshield! Don't get too carried away with the "new" stuff...
Red Ryder, the grill and windshield frame are the only new parts you'll really see on the car. 95% of the car is orriginal Ford, but of course I bought some new parts for the sake of the being safe or because I could not find a nice orriginal. I'm not being to **** on this car right now, this is a short term version for this ol roadster
Chris, I think the car looks great and although Zach's windshield looks cool it's too much for the 40's look you're after. Leave it as is. You have a good eye. Trust your restraint and judgement! Keith
