well my buddy was has always told me about this junkyard that he knows about and goes to. so it was a nice day out and i was like, hey lets go to thatjunkyard your always talking about. so he was like sure, but ill have to call the guy that owns it, so he knows were coming. so after the phone call we get the okto go. so off we went! here are some pics i took (from my phone) of some of the stuff in there. enjoy!
But wheres the junk. WOW, amazing stuff in a nice organized yard. Thanks for the pics and welcome to the HAMB, yer of to a great start here. H.
A couple of buddies own the place, I give tours now and then as approved... J, you better get that Bel Air when John gets back.
Looks like they have been saving some old iron from the crusher. Was this an old yard that they pulled some stuff out of before crushing?, or are these diamonds being hauled in from the area? tnrotter
I say heaven is at the bottom of a charred oak barrel... Its an old yard but much of what you see now is from out of state... Its more of a swapmeet holding area than a junkyard now. The new finds and rollers are often put out by the road side forsale but the yard is often off limits. Anything that lingers too long goes out back, is parted out and drug to the meets or sold on line. If you like, contact me and I'll set you up with my buddy when he gets back in town or if I have time I may take you there. Generally they like the fact that not many know where they are, if that has changed or does change I'll post directions and contact information when I talk to him next. Otherwise he has always preferred to deal through those that know him, to call ahead, and to drag along any new potential buyer. I'm glad to help within reason but prices vary based on at***ude along with that help.
Okay, I talked with my buddy who owns this yard so here you go... Most everything is 1972 and older with a large amount of 47-55 and 55-59 Chevy and GMC trucks. You want to talk to John or his brother Kenny, don't call on Sunday and while hours vary try from 9:00 to 4:00 EDT Monday-Friday for best results. Make sure you call ahead of time. Respect goes a long way and like I said prices change with at***ude, but they are very fair and keep up on what is what and are well versed in actual value. Acting like many guys have in response to my ads will not help you get a deal. However feel free to be a dip**** and loose out or cost yourself more money whatever does it for you. Now that's my kind of junkyard! I'd love to have with the 1959 Chevy four door and the 1960 El Camino.
I grew up in OH - I didn't realize there were that many clean vehicles left in the state let alone one yard. A treasure chest for sure!
theres a place similar to this in seguin, tx its called ''john salvage''...this guy has like 50 acres packed full of stuff from then teens to now he hasALOT of older early model stuff...found a lot of model a parts when i was there last some of you guys may want to check it out...
The ( "more complete one") Impala was $2,500, the Bel Air was likely the same price. My buddy J that posted this thread was all over the Bel Air, I was hoping he'd get it but he already has a 64 he's deep into. Its a toss up on condition but I was also leaning toward the Bel Air as the better project.
the 60 el camino has really caught my eye. Always wanted one. Wish i had the vacation and time to travel to Ohio. Curious what are those going for?
