ok i aint promoting this car,but on the bay there is a 32 s/d.it list all the stuff it has including "McDonnel fenders". showing my ignorence here, but what the heck is a "McDonnel fender".anybody know? just trying to increase my little brain capacity on 32's any help
Yeah you're not alone I'd like to know also. and if that is a true 32 sedan delivery. If I am not mistaken there were only 400 made...ghost
They are early reproduction front fenders that were stamped at the Mcdonnel Douglas air craft plant in ca.
that's very cool . i see that the auction is no longer on that site ,i wonder if someone hit the "buy it now"
thanks mr juliano, i guess they are extremly rare?? are they different from later fenders? if so how? again ,thanks
Auction ended on the 23rd with no bids. Guess if you have an extra 140K from your AIG bonus you can still buy it.
Because it is a put together sedan delivery ... and no where near correct as a antique ... I believe 140 grand is way off base as to the value. I love 32's as much as anyone ... and have paid stupid $$$ for original Deuce cars and pieces but this one is way too high IMHO. But I do LIKE IT It is here http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...0176372092&sspagename=STRK:MEWAX:IT&viewitem=
R/c magazine june 09. Has a full spread on how to convert your sedan to a sedan delivery the factory correct way. I know it wont be an original. But if you had to have one. And I am sure it would be a lot less than $140.00 and still be cool...ghost
I'm having the guy in R&C do mine as we speak. Had one years ago but had to sell. That's the back of my primered sedan in the lead photo.
Will you be going the flower car route? Or a true sedan delivery with your build. They both existed as originals I believe. Either way the guy converting them has talent...ghost
There were at least 2 different 32 front fenders from the fcatory, maybe more have been verified by now. That's why if you buy new fenders you'd best buy a pair so they will match for sure.
Ghost28: I'm going the delivery route with filled in back windows. The guy that makes the wood kits has a delivery and flower car, both are very cool. Got to check them out when I picked up the wood kit.
Krylon , just out of curiosity, would you tell us how much is the Kit? if you don't want to say that's ok
I would call the guy that makes the wood, he's listed in the article. I don't want to quote a price, when I picked mine up he said it was the last at the price I paid.
All those early repop front fenders were non matching. The right was one profile on the front edge and the left was different. These fenders were probably the best of all the repop fronts but they made a major mistake by useing 2 n.o.s fronts that were not a match. I have seen 2 different front profiles on 32 fenders and there may be more.
we went through that front fender h***le in 1984 putting my Dads victoria together. we came up real close in the end. we were buyin & sellin fenders tryin to get 2 cherrys to match, had fenders layin all over hell. super nice fenders were high priced 'for the time' even then. -- since then ive been to many shows seen many deuces with different fronts -- gettin pretty used to seein them now. ------ it wouldnt stop me from buyin though! even if i had 140k to spend on a deuce delivery
Thanks for posting the photos! Great photos of a very nice car, the Winfield equiped Banger was a suprise. That is a great photo collection to put on file for future referance.
Let the resto police have their comments but that could be parked in my garage just like it is. The Winfield equipt 4 makes it a home run. I think I'd do a T-5 conversion and take it anywhere at 20+ MPG BTW, Hotroddrummer and his dad's friend Paul Beck, does a "correct" conversion on a 2dr to a delivery. He has patterns off a real one and does the doors, wood, and sheetmetal exactly like origional. If anyone remembers Barry Lobecks from years ago the body was done by Paul. Frank
one last ??? when you say early repo fenders, what time frame are we talking here. but thanks guys for the info,i learned something about 32s. i see the difference in the front profile shot. did good today, learned something new.thanks bruce
I would guess late 70's or early 80's. I remember getting together with some friends and buying a bunch of them for our cars. I used them on several 32's back then and one of the guys still has a set in his attic that he never used.
