The little things make a difference. I lowered my truck and painted my wheels. Next is patching a couple of holes and putting it in primer in preperation for a better paint job and some skinny whitewalls. Getting the little things done help keep me motivated to do the big things. Seeing you guys doing such great work keeps me motivated when I get lazy. So thanks. Before... After...
Thanks guys. I'm going to put the bed in primer this weekend. It doesn't need any bodywork. Hopefully I can score some good fenders at the autofair coming up and get the front end ready for paint.
Looks much better with the black wheels and new stance. What did you do to lower it? Spindles and springs? I'm might be picking up a '62 shirt-wide soon.
It already had drop spindles in the first photo. I cut the front coils and put 3" blocks in the rear. I've still got some Jeep TJ coils to put in the rear that'll bring it down another inch or two. If you get the '62, it has torsion bars in the front. You can get a couple of easy inches of lowering by cranking those down.
why post a picture of *that* on a site for traditional hotrods and customs? It was ugly with red wheels, now its uglier
You're certainly en***led to your opinion. What's your cutoff date for traditional hot rods and customs? Cause I thought it was '64 for the hamb. My pickup is still a project, at the end of the day. And I can enjoy driving it while I work on it. I don't think it gets any more traditional than that.
The black wheels and new stance are much improved. With the right stance and wheel and tire size...I'm convinced that darn near anything can be made to look cool. Looks like a hot rodder's truck now... Neal
well put breeder. every hotrodder needs a truck and while it aint a rod or custom as such, its still a cool old ride and workhorse. the red wheels had to go.
I want a C10 too, Yours' is very NICE indeed, looks a lot better for the change of al***ude too! Nick.
Thanks again guys. I got it a little lower in the back with the Jeep TJ coil springs installed. Check it out... With the blocks, before the Jeep coils... After with the blocks and Jeep coils... I though I would like it better de-raked, but I kind of like it better with a little rake in the first picture (of this post). I think I can get another inch or so lower in the front by cutting the factory bump stop bracket and adding a shorter, stiffer non-factory bumpstop. That should restore some of the rake. I'm as low as I can go in the rear without C-notching the frame. I don't have welding capabilities now, so that will have to wait. More pictures to follow after changing around the front bumpstops/brackets. Thanks again for this great forum.
What a ****!! Give the guy a chance. I think his truck has come a long way and I think it is coming out just fine. The purpose of your ****ty comment is what?? Was it necessary? Just keep your hole shut unless it's constructive criticism. The HAMB would be a much better place without ignorant people such as yourself. Terd, I think it looks so much better. I like it without the rake personally. Keep pecking away at it. ******Knuckles
Thanks Ron. But, no biggie. Can't expect everybody to like everything. As far as I'm concerned, trucks go with hot rods like peas and carrots.
Well, I like it. I think its *****in....Actually Im indifferent on the rake thing....it looks good both ways... Cheers and beers Hodge
I liked it with more of a rake... but it still looks good. I like it better with the black wheels than the red... and like it a whole bunch better than that angry old fart does.
lolz. I also found a good '61 hood and grill. I'll be changing these out soon after some paint work on the "new" parts. Should look pretty good, I've always favored the earlier hoods.
