The year I turned 12, while walking home from school, a guy down the street had his garage door open, inside was a fresh '33 Ford 3 Window. I'll never forget the feeling I had when I saw that car. Since that day, 30 years ago, I've been waiting to say "I'm building a Hot Rod" Well today is the day, it started tonight with the puchase of a cherry original grille, here's a sneak peak at my new ride!
Well, sometimes they are built one part at a time, but usually most start with the car first! LOL. Glad to see your making progress. That is however a very sweet grille you have there. I wish I had it. I have a nice one, but not that nice. Best of luck.....
Man, that is a great start! Put a chair behind it and sit down and make hotrod noises. It all starts with a dream, not necessarily a grille, but I can picture it now and it's beautiful!
Is that grill hanging on a horseshoe? I still have the '32 grill I found in 1961 but haven't put a car behind it. I did ***emble a '37 Harley that started with a rear fender, took 15 years, hope you're project goes together quicker.
Magnificent grille! How's the radiator next to it? When I had my chopped, Carson-topped 33 cabriolet (bought from a restorer who had an extra cowl to weld on to restore the windshield height) it had the rustiest but straightest(like yours) grille ever. Over the next few years I bought every 33 grille I could find or heard about. The best best was one I hadn't even seen, just bought it on description alone, paid $25 plus $15 bus freight. I ended up with 5 grilles, sold them and ended up having my whole car and other parts for it FREE. You've got a super start, just don't expect every piece you find to be that good!
mine started with a fiat emblem..wife thought i was crazy..that was 5 years ago..have been working on and really just gathering peices since weekend after labor day past...nice grille....i know alot of guys who would like to have one as sweet...good luck with the rest of it....
Hey Pogo. i was watchin that grill tonight GOOD score GREAT deal! you are commited now no turnin back!! T2T. ----- say hi to Dodo!
Thanks guys, I'm pretty happy with my start, but I'm definately shopping for a roller. Just couldn't p*** up that grille! It's going to be a traditional car, no chop & fill for me, stock body with an Ardun flattie, hairpins on a drilled axle and a Halibrand out back, rolling on steel wheels with wide whites. T2T, good to here from you, I haven't been on OG much this last year, you still collecting 60's? I'll tell Dodo you're still kickin!
