I'm doing a '55 which is pretty much the same as yours. Front axle and steering are the same so you can just change hubs and brakes to fit the 5-lug F-100 ones. The rear springs are slightly different I think - wider on the F-250. I just took a leaf out the bottom and fitted a '50 F-1 rear axle: for this I had to weld wedge plates onto the spring pads as the F-1 ones had the pinion pointing down about 5 degrees (this may be a difference between F-1 and F-100, or may be between F-1 & F-100 and F-2 & F-250). I had to use the F-250 U-bolts, and I also had to move the axle forward an inch or so because the pinion is shorter, and would not have reached the prop (this obviously moves the wheels forward slightly, but doesn't look out of place - you could just have the prop extended instead). Depending on your transmission and parking brake, you may have to revise that. Mine had the trans-mounted hand brake, so I had to adapt it with different cables to work the F-1 axle drum brakes. EDIT: I changed to the F-100 brake master cylinder and re-plumbed everything in 3/16" pipe to suit, instead of the F-250's 1/4" lines. Now I just have an 8" longer F-100 - it is never likely to carry anything more than a m/cycle or two, so down-rating the load capacity/GVW isn't an issue. Think that's about it.
I'm pretty sure the leafs are the same for the back on the F100 and F250. LMC truck lists the same part number for their 9 leaf rear springs for the 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton. From what I have seen there isn't a difference between them. I know that the c2c spacing is different, but the springs should match up. I guess I will see soon...
