    UPDATE:

I've still been really busy in school and am graduating at the end of the semester so I cant wait to really get into the swing of things.

I got my frame and components back home and plan on building again; Otherwise I've been working on the engine.

I'll try to get on here to tomorrow and post the pictures of the machine work I did and the engine components but right now I want to show off the valley pan cover I cast today..

I milled the fins in Busateri's engine cl*** and Tom at the West Allis Woodworkers Club Helped me form the draft.

I'm really stoked on making my own parts..

    MORE TOMORROW

Is the Skylark in the background yours too? Looks like a '69?

I always had a soft spot for the 68/9 Skylarks. Something about them I alway liked over the Chevelles, GTOs and Cutl***es.

Sorry boys, the ol' T-Tops Cut is gone..

At the beginning of the school year, I started working on my 392 in Mr. Busateri's (Mike B's padre) adult high school engine servicing cl***. Im working on it about twice a week now. I have had numerous hold ups on parts and specs but Im keeping at it.

I first started out by having the block burned and blasted to remove rust and any other **** that might have built up inside.

When I got it back, I surfaced the mains and line bored it to spec.

One of the cylinders had some pitting in it, so we put it in the honing machine with a diamond stone to see if this could be cleaned up by just boring it over.. this didn't happen so number 5 received a sleeve.

I decided to bore the block .030 over to clean up the other cylinders and to get a couple more cubic inches..
It comes out to 397.97... cool.

I parallel decked the block .0175 to clean up the surfaces and the sleeve.. you can barely tell it was even inserted. This took care of most of the machine work, so it was time to move on to the rotating ***embly.

I surfaced the rod caps, replaced the studs with ARP studs, and honed the rod back to spec. on the little end, I replaced the pin bushings with new, steel-backed bushings and drilled a hole in the top of the rod for better lubrication. When I started to pin-fit the new bushings, I honed through the bronze in a few spots.. I didn't like this so I went with some solid oil-lite bronze bushings that My friend Chris made for me in trade for a BK double stacker and a king sized fry.. Good deal if you ask me. I then pin-fit the bushings precisely.

I'm in the process of balancing the lower end now. It's been time consuming getting the rods to weigh exactly the same. It sure is fun though.

On top of this, i'm laying out the rest of my suspension and plan on getting the ch***is done by July. There might be more hope if I stop going to Austin.. or just getting hurt there.

Alright! I like this build a lot! *****in' valley cover you made there! Are you going to make a water cross-over to match? There's a challenge for you! :D

    Beautiful work!
Instead of a bolt through the bottom of the mount, may I suggest a stud and a castle nut with a cotter pin? Keeps it together and looks trad.

X2, in spades! there was a t-bucket that was in the magazines back in the day, that had an injected hemi with chromed Imperial valve covers. Trying to remember where I saw it.
