Hello everyone! My husband has been posting here since we got our 49 Ford, which I absolutely love! Especially the paintjob on it. = ) http://www.ruttencutter.com/49ford/way_home_first_show/way_home_first_show-Images/2.jpg He actually got me really interested in painting and pinstriping and has been asking a lot of questions for me. Someone suggested that I sign up, so here I am. = ) I'm new to the whole messageboard thing and not really sure what else to say though. Anyway, Bugman was nice enough to let us visit last night and I got to paint an old hood that my husband got for me. It was a lot of fun and ended up a really cool metalic purple color. I think I need some more practice though because the part that I did ended up looking like a purple zebra. = ) I was also wondering if there were any other girls on the board, ,and what kinds of things you do. Well, I think that's it. If there's anything else you want to know, just ask! Thanks! ~Lizz
Thank GOD you're married. - who's your husband? Yes there a few of us other girls on the board right now...we're busy running off one that thought the HAMB was a dating service. Do you have any pics of your pinstriping? We all love pinstripers around here Make sure you check out the Friday art show...thats where Barnett, Safariknut, PeterpanofChicago,Whodaky,Caffeine...etc...all the great pinstripers post pics every week. its amazing Welcome to the HAMB, good luck Kris
Welcome Lizz, nice couple and very nice Shoebox. Stop by the Friday art show for pinstriping madness. Joel
WELCOME!!! Ruttencutter is your hubby right?? I have been talking with him about your car....its a neat '49 Hope I can be of some help to you guys!
Welcome, there are a few girls here. I wish there were more, but like Kris said, the last one was looking for a date to go with her crotch rocket. Welcome.
Yeah, Lizz is my wife. Poor girl. All she wants is the damn car to run. I promised her it would--if she only knew what fun was down the road! More pictures of our car are at http://www.ruttencutter.com/49ford/ Right now we're in the process of building a 302 to put in, since the flathead has taken a dive. -Scott
No worries man youll get it there...alot of us HAMB'rs will help ya however we can, and once again...Welcome to both of ya.
[ QUOTE ] Someone suggested that I sign up, so here I am. = ) [/ QUOTE ] I know I was at least one of the people who suggested it! Welcome Lizz! Awesome to have another artisitic hot rod enthusiast type chick on the board. Hope to see your work in the Friday Gallery some time. I'm another of the 'girls' on the board. Safely and happily married. I'm still on the search for the car I want. I'm not in a big hurry since I'm helping my husband rebuild his car (not one to mention on this board, so I won't). I've been working with metal for a couple years... casting, sculpture, blacksmithing, metalshaping, etc. I'm also interested in pinstriping, so your husband's post in your interest came at just the right time. Again, welcome!!! Keri
Well, I was going to say everything that Scott just said, however I couldn't figure out hos to make a reply. It seems that somehow I had to log back in. Go figure. Anyway, he posted some more pictures of our car. I haven't done any pinstriping yet, just painting. The hood ended up turning out pretty good, but only because Bugman put the last coat on it for me to fix my zebra stripes. = ) I'll get better with more practice though, I'm sure. Anyway, I still need to get together a shopping list before I can get started pinstriping. Maybe we'll go tonight. We'll see. Any ideas of where to get all the materials needed to get started? ~Lizz
Welcome to the HAMB. I look forward to seeing your work as you progress! I'd love to paint and stripe, but paint is not my friend. I can't even use nailpolish! Yeah to what CherryBlossom said. I am dissapointed in the last girl who signed on. As a newbie myself I was quite embarrased for her. IMO, don't even bother opening up posts by her. Glad you signed on! Any pics of the hood you just tackled? =)
No pictures of it yet. I can figure out how to take the picture, and even get it onto my computer, but not sure if I could figure out how to get it on here. Maybe I'll e-mail it to my husband and if he gets really bored at work this afternoon (and feeling extra nice) he'll put one up for me. It's nothing spectacular, but I do really like the color. = ) ~Lizz
Welcome to the HAMB! Hey...it's Thursday...why haven't the Aussies fired up the "Friday" Art Show yet?!
Hey! I took it upon myself to look at the whole www.ruttencutter.com website.... LOVE the pics your husband took on there. He has a great eye Did you make the quilts on there? I also sew myself...and s****book...like mad...LOL
If you can get a pic onto a computer it's easy to get them posted. Sign up for a free account at www.photobucket.com they make it easy! They list the "code" you need under each pic. the one you want to insert is the one between .
Thanks. I think his photography is pretty amazing as well. = ) Most of the quilts on there he and I worked on together...him doing most of the work. I'm not sure if the website says it or not, but a lot of them are hand dyed too. We have gotten more into it since college though and since we haven't really had anywhere to hand dye the fabric, we have been making them out of old denim. I have also started s****booking as well. Now I'm going to take on painting and pinstriping. Think I have enough hobbies yet? = ) Thanks for sharing some of your other interestes as well! ~Lizz
Welcome and if you get a chance to come to MI for the autorama in grand rapids in january or detroit in march we've got a pinstripers show goin on at both. This is the 2nd year for detroit and first for grand rapids. Last year was a blast in detroit
I envy you your abilty to use any liquid color! BE careful with s****booking, it will snowball quickly!(Ask Mac..he wants to know why I need more s****book supplies and cars/parts.) I have begun s****booking car shows now, and plan on doing an album for all the pictures of the panel buildup. I agree...you need more hobbies. I can get you started on on making flower hairclips and am***ing veicles and car parts (for just in case, or just becuase it was cool.)

That sounds really cool. Maybe it's a good thing our car isn't running too well now though. I still have pictures from college and from our wedding that I need to get going on. Not to mention all of the pictures I have of our new puppy! I'll probably eventually start a car one too though. = ) ~Lizz

I just realized where you live... you have a GREAT s****book store in Madison....I dont recall the name of it...its in a strip mall...not far off a highway....real descriptive I know....my mom and I stopped there on our way thru to South Dakota....we also went to a really nice quilt store, next to Brueggars Bagel shoppe...know where Im talking about????
I might know the s****book store you're talking about. Is it called Madtown S****pers? That one is on the east side. I think there might be one on the west side too but I'm not sure. I went into the Madtown S****pers one though and they have just about EVERYTHING. When I say just about, it's because I couldn't find very much car stuff. We were looking for either old cars, or race cars and didn't have much luck with either. If you know of anywhere online to get car stuff for s****booking, let me know. Also, someone posted something about how I needed to get striping soon. I am planning on it! Like I said earlier, I need to make a shopping list. If anyone has any suggestions on supplies to buy to start out, or where to buy them, please let me know! I have plenty ideas of what to paint on, just not what to paint with. Thanks ~Lizz
Hellllloooooo Lizz! I'm one of the other exceptionally cool hot rod gals on here! (LOL!) I'm also married and mom to a 7-year-old. I do a little pinstriping too although I'll admit that I've been neglecting it for my other artwork which is my primary source of car parts money! I sometimes s****book also, but since my hobbies are WAAAY out of control and my car is in need of some work at the moment, all that stuff is on hold until Faye (my car) is rolling down the road again. In any event, welcome to the HAMB. People here are very helpful and this is a great little community. There are some super-smart do it yourself girls on here that aren't afraid to pick up a wrench and jump in, so you should feel right at home. Stacey
