as some of you know i go & give Platelets about once a month, WHY??????? ya ask, cause someone has to do it. we all have seen on the news about the blood shortage BUT you will very seldom hear them ask for Platelets & Plasma. Both of these 2 blood products are also in a high demand and at any one time there is less then a day or two supply of these products also. yes it takes a total of about 2-3 hrs to collect a couple of pints of Platelets & Plasma but they are needed everyday to help someone continue their fight for life. i have met some of the folks who may have gotten some of my Platelets, from 5-10yr old kids to 70+ yr old adults. not only did they thank me but so did thier family. how could i NOT continue doing this when i seen the faces of those people. the smiles from the kids knowing that mom,dad or another loved one will be around for yrs to come, or watching the parents smile from ear to ear knowing that they will be able to watch the kids grow up & have kids of thier own. yes it does take more time out of your day, BUT the benefits far out weigh the amount of time it takes, and think about this, you may have saved some parents child or some childs parent by simply just rolling up that sleeve & taking a few hours out of your own so call busy day............... SAVE A LIFE DONATE BLOOD, PLATELETS, PLASMA & sign your DONOR CARD cause the life you save may be some one you love & know..........joe just a side note, if ya don't like this topic for whatever reason PLEASE keep your comments to yourself, because personally i don't want to fuck'n listen to your lame remarks.....
Thanks!! B- Blood/Plasma recipient (Two at the scene, one in the chopper, at least two more during surgery and two more during the following weeks) I gave/give blood and thank those that gave so it was there when I needed it.

Do you have to be like a certain age? Nick [/ QUOTE ] hey nick , you can contact any Red Cross office or even call your local hospitals. personally i go over to SLU hospital (St Louis University Hospital), WHY, hell i don't know other then thats where my wife was at 2x for over 6 months at a time for some serious health problems and they have some great looking nurses also . how old do ya need to be, mmmmmmmmmmm i think ya can be 16 or 17 w/your parents permission & they ask ya bunch of QQQQQ's to be sure you CAN GIVE. like i said its basicly painless doing either things, now i'm not saying it wont hurt, cause it can & YES i have been hurt. had veins in both arms blown out trying to give one time, but hey its a small price to pay to help someone. so if ya want to know more call a Red Cross office or your local hospital & ask if they have a Blood Donation area.........joe
Joe, from someone who GET'S instead of gives, A BIG THANK YOU for what you do. I owe you one. Not as OT as some might think. Tommy Mc
The best shirts I own are t-shirts that Red Cross gives when you donate blood. I give blood every 56 days. And I hate needles. But I have never had a problem. Try it, you will like it!! Plus you get free juice & cookies, and meet a lot of nice people.
The DO's & Don't of giving blood.. click right here and the same basicly applies to giving platelets & plasma
