Get the ***le. Take the vin no. to the court house and find out what has to be done to ***le what may be an abandoned car, who knows, maybe it won't be too hard to do.

If you feel you've done your very best to contact your friend, then I would call the inspector and ask him how to best handle getting rid of the car. Being honest in this situation will be to your benefit, no one can cast you in a bad light if your "friend" tries to come after you legally.

If you're looking for a temporary solution, how about pulling it up in front of your building, like it's parked there? A car that appears to be operational doesn't stand out like one parked in a field a**** the weeds.

Sorry you got put in a jamb, I hope everything works out for ya.:)

Sell it. Your friend is dead. If by some miracle he is resurrected after the sale, tell him you donated it. That's a feel-good story.

I said dont be a **** about it if he wants it back...

Just an idea for how to take possession and do something with it.

Put your own name as the tow company.

I'd leave several messeges on his answering machine, if he has one, that you are under the gun from the city to get rid of the car. I'd also send a registered letter stating the same. Tell him the day you are going to notify the city that they can come get the car. If you get no response have it towed. The letter would be proof that you let him know what was going on. If they can't deliver the registered letter, he's dead, moved, hiding or whatever and the car is not a concern to him now. You can at least say you tried your best to contact him. Let the city do their thing and move on, chances are you won't see the guy for years....

    Exactly...

Selling it makes you as bad of a friend as he is.

    Why stoop to his level.

all this talk of towing...it's small enough to just shoot it to his place via slingshot...

seriously. a tow bill is less that a hunnert bucks. what mindless, goofy thing have You spent 100 bucks on in the last Year?

if he is a friend, he may simply be embarrased to call at this point.
    OR
he could have completely gone bat**** crazy. who knows? put the car at his place and watch to see if he starts watering it...either way, You might figure out what the deal is.

Life is too short to worry about stuff like this. send it on, Karma may replace it with something You actually WANT instead of something You "ended up with" that caused You a ton of grief and heartburn.

you might want to run an ad in the paper, kinda like when somebody dies if the registered letter fails.

true story; i sold a truck on ebay, (guy's local), comes up and pays me on a tuesday, sez he'll be back thursday with a trailer.
thurs comes and goes, truck still here.
another thursday goes by, same deal.
3rd thursday goes by, still here.
friday i deliver it to his address in the street.
i have not EVER heard from this guy since he paid...
of course HIS wife may have killed him...;)

anyway, this guy is no friend, you owe him nothing...

Good Friend and can't find or talk to him? Has another car at another friend's shop, have you called or went by other friend's shop? Do you know if the other shop still
    has the other car?

I think you have became a free warehouse, most likely the other shop also is being used. When you live in the same town and you have to resort to sending registered mail. That in its self cost time and money when it go's that far you are no longer friend's! Then comes court - Find the Guy and get it over with!!

Got to agree there!,I was just discussing the Consul Capri with someone ( big time car collector with cars in several countries) the other day and how they fetch so much money. He was looking for one all over the world and found a nice one in Australia last month. Someone said "german". Nope ,they were English. If you look at the profile you can see the chevy bubble top influence .

Definitely just tow the thing back to his house. This isnt your problem. It is his. We all have "friends" like this......You know the guys that you can't let borrow your welder because they never bring it back. Or the guys that borrow your tools and then lend them out to their friends without asking. This guys taking advantage of you. I would just leave it in hhis driveway, especially since he wont return your calls. It is his problem, let him deal with it.

Don't you hate bureaucrats? The BTK killer was a zoning enforcement officer. Sure don't envy you guys living in areas with these little Nazi style *****s running around. Gotta pick better friends too.

  22. First, he's no friend. He lost that ***le the day after he didn't return your first call.
Second, tow the car back to his house and leave it in the street.

I'd stick the car in the guy's driveway and let it go, and let he and his wife sort the **** out! Screw the "friendship" thing! If he has the balls to put you in the awkward spot you are in, have the balls to dump HIS problem in HIS yard. Friends like him are not friends. I'd have absolutely no problem doing what I said to someone like that!

If he is a "friend" you must have some other friend or friends who know him. Ask them what is up with him, tell them to tell him to call you. Go to his house and knock on the door. Check county records to see if he is alive. Don't let this happen again.

I like the auction with his phone number idea or just post it on craigslist. "Ford Capri.Need Gone. First $100 takes it. Work during days call after 10pm. (Friend's Name-His phone#)" If you weren't on the other side of texas i'd take it off your hands if you throw the 289 in the p***enger seat i'll look for a truck to tow it here tonight. I think the car looks interesting the roofline reminds me of the volvo p1800's .

I pretty much did just about everything that sounded reasonable in some of the replies i received on the thread.I sent a registered letter, went back by his house three more times and even posted a letter in the town he lives in.Now over another month has past with nothing. The bright side is that the inspector has quit riding my *** since i bought and paid for a large tarp to cover it up........I guess the damb thing is mine now
