I had been looking for a parts truck for my 55 and I found this north of the cities. I called him up and struck a really good deal. The odomiter says 9500 miles! And the motor looks it too! Not a drop of oil on or around the engine. I dont want to seem like im bragging, but I paid $1000 and he delivered it 2 hours for me. He said it had come off a farm in North Dakota. The cab corners need to be replaced, theres a few small holes in the toe boards and the rear of the front fenders need a patch pannel on both sides, and there are no brakes. But Im happy to have something I can put a little work into and DRIVE! What do you guys suggest for the brakes? Will they be better off if I put a dual master under the cab? Maybe with a booster?

Congradulations great find. Had a black one just like it with the deluxe chrome package only it had a small back window. Hope it came with that piece of trim missing on the rear of the bed side. That bed trim is HARD! to find. Mine drove fine with the stock master cyl. Good Luck with the new project.

Nice 59. Fleetside, Big window, Deluxe cab....Sweet..... Looks like it's pretty well optioned. Is it a six, or an eight? Does it have a Hydro?:cool::cool: As far as brakes.... Are you going to keep the front drums? If so, just rebuild the brakes stock. It's a good idea to use all new, (not rebuilt), parts, master and wheel cylinders, lines, hoses, springs, and drums, if it needs them. This way the brakes should be good for a long time. Stock single master cylinder should be OK, if the rest of the brakes are all new.

man sweet find. Me and my son are building a 58 fleetside big window. As for your deal 1000 bucks is great. As for breaks. Depending what you are doing i upgraded the 58 to front disks just for safety but you could rebuild the drums and get the same out of it. Cant wait to see more of this truck

A very complete big window for only $1000! Nice score. I have to agree, keep it as stock as possible but upgrade the running gear and give it a nice drop. Classic Performance Parts might be a good start for your brake and suspension needs but you can also do it with boneyard parts.

Go to your local Napa and ask about a rebuild kit for the master Cyl, wheel cyl and rubber hoses. They still stock a lot of brake parts for old cars..

Ok, so I went to the parts store and they have all the brake stuff I need. But I need to know what the difference is between the 3100 and the 3200? This is a 32- Apache. The parts store only has 3100-1/2 ton and a 3600-3/4 ton. And the rear wheel cyl rebuild kits are different sizes. 1" for 1/2 and 1-1/8" for 3/4. The fronts are both 1-1/8 so I bought those and that will keep me busy for a while.

-- The truck is a 235 with a 3 on the tree... I had to find out what the shift patern was by trial and error! And the rear trip piece is sitting on the seat! Im still trying to figure out what all the knobs on the dash do.... Theres a ton!

That deluxe trim on the bed is worth $1k by itself if it's all there. Is it? I see one piece missing. Is it inside the truck. I looked for 4 years and couldn't find a set of it. Very cool.

I will sell the bed trim then If its that important to someone else. I have the missing piece inside the truck. I could use the cash for brake stuff. The only issue is in the picture above, it is slightly tweaked but not bad.

    Heres some more pics!

You may get the info you need here but also the guys at www.stovebolt.com are really helpful and love these trucks.
    If I recall correctly 3100 is 1/2 Ton, 3200 3/4 or 1 ton?????

If you can, keep the trim. Keeping this truck all together will be worth a lot more going forward.

Man if you have it all, ROCK IT! That stuff is super cool, and really sets off those trucks. It also easily adds twice that to the truck if you go to sell it.

I am at work where I can't view the pics. I believe that the 3100 is a shortbox 1/2 ton while the 3200 is the long box 1/2 ton. I have a short stepside 59 and a short Fleet BBW with trim 59 4x4. I sold a set of trim about 2 years ago and afterwards realized I could have gotten twice the $440 sale price that I let it go for. Would be best to keep it with the truck if you can manage to.

Forgot to add to the previous post that the Fleetside stainless trim was only a 1958 option. If you find it on a 59 it was not original to that year but added later. As the Cameos were only produced through mid 58, an original 58 survivor with the trim is rare as well.

Nice truck.....really nice truck. Don't want you to take this the wrong way and it is YOUR truck but this is a dream find for someone. From what I see in this post, and I might be WAY off base, is that your looking for something cool to get on the road quickly and your not flush with cash. This truck has the possibilities of being restored or built into a rare piece and maybe you want to stash it away until you decide what to really do with it or sell it and invest the cash into something you can drive now. Brakes alone are probably not going to be your only expense getting this road worthy. If you sell the trim you'll really hurt the value of the truck. OK I'm done and my opinion, as always is worth what you paid for it.
The difference between a 3100 and 3200 is wheelbase. 31 is short - 32 is long
    Sweet truck.

I see what your talking about Terry. I thought about "fliping" the truck by putting some work into it to get it running better, brakes and cleaning it up a little to sell it again for funds to put into the motor of my modified. So I will list it in the classifieds if anyone is inturested. I am still going to work on it and fix the brakes, get it running right and drive it until someone wants to buy it.

Im going to rebuild the carb and try to get the front wheel cylinders off!

Yep the trim was 59 only... and the Cameo's are a whole other story, fiberglass sides over a stepside bed...

I got her running today, and took her to the back yard and scrubbed her down. I really like the bright orange color.

    Michele ,my thoughts exactly. This young fella needs to 1/ find a proper storage place and put it up on blocks ;
or 2/ Sell it to someone who sees that Gold under the orange and rust.
    :D

Yep, totally agree with ya Dirtynails. He should sell it to me.

By the way, are your nails really dirty? I try real hard to keep mine clean. Especially if they're long, like they usually are.:)

Was thinking the same thing. And it sounds like this advice didn't fall on deaf ears. Congrats on the find, should be a happy ending either way you go.
