The F7* is for the 2.0L, the F0* is for the 1.9L as mentioned. Very similar engines, but the head for the 2.0L version starting in 97 is different. The 1.9L head would bolt to the block, but I believe that the intake ports would be different.

  10. Look over the head very carefully. If you didn't already know, these heads like to drop out valve seats. They go ping ponging around in the cylinders after that.

Its really hard to find a good one in a wrecking yard, unless the car was hit hard and totalled.
If the body isnt wrecked, probably has a bad head.

  11. this i do know,,,
this is the SECOND head i've replaced,,,
they seem to like to crack on me,,,
at christmas,,, had to replace a piston as well,,,

i can't wait to get a "new" older car,,,

Yes, the 97-up ****** 2.0L (except ZX2 coupe) will all have the same head. I think you'll find the casting number is actually F7CE, not F7OE. Anyway, F7 = 1997 in the Ford I.D. numbers, so that's what you'll need. If it's anything from F0CE to F6CE, it's from a 1.9L, and no good to you.

    cheers
