This was copied striaght from the CA DMV Vehicle Code. Legislative Findings 5050. The Legislature finds and declares that constructive leisure pursuits by California citizens is most important. This article is intended to encourage responsible participation in the hobby of collecting, preserving, restoring, and maintaining motor vehicles of historic and special interest, which hobby contributes to the enjoyment of the citizen and the preservation of California's automotive memorabilia.
Wow, but then at the same time we always get threats of clunker laws and stricter smog emisions etc.Judging by this old vehicle code the DMV people up in Sacto. seem waayy different from the employees at their branches.
If you really want a good laugh, go to hotrodhotline.com and see what California wants to do next. Its a riot!
which? mandating the color of new cars to be sold in Cali? well; it'll happen, if the past (of Cali) is any indication of the future.
Look at this. So it won't happen this week. Dennis http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/uptospeed/2009/03/black-car-ban.html
good find, Dennis <!-- entry --> Black is back for California drivers (actually, it never left) The Great California Black Car Crisis is over — for now at least. The California Air Resources Board said Friday that it has no plans “at this time” to regulate car paint as part of a plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions — and never intended to outlaw black cars in the first place.
The bit about the black cars was making the rounds of the conservative talk shows the other day.One was wondering(sarcastically)if he told them he would only drive his black car at night could he still have it.Makes about as much sense as the original premise. The really sad thing is we actually PAY these idiots to come up with shit like this.
Geez,,this is posted everyday on here and the most whining comes from folks that don't live in California. Nobody is trying to ban black cars. This isn't hot rod/custom related or relevant or anything but bullshit. Yet, it comes up every day...WTF?
You are safe only as long as the Legislature is NOT in session. No, wait, scratch that...that "off-time" is when the unelected bureaucrats get to enact their "regulations" free from the light of day. Mazooma, it's because the People's Republik of Kalifornia is notorious for coming up with lame-brained schemes such as this. I've lived there, and I have family out there, so I feel well-qualified to comment as I do about the ridiculousness that is so much a part of that State.
I better sneak one in before this gets closed... If we don't bring it up routinely, they will sneak some crap in and we will never get it repealed. As for not living in CA, I don't know if you have been paying attention, but most new legislation introduced there is adopted across other states within a few years. Legislators in every state routinely ask what their neighbors are doing on certain issues and it really sways the decision making. I don't want junk passed in CA because it will only be a matter of time before it is under consideration in TX. More to the point of this thread, the DMV in every state forgets that we are their customers because we are captive. Should they be exempt from customer satisfaction?
As one of those x California residents, I am in no way criticizing or whining about the dark car thing. I am just LMAOBT. California is a beautiful state, that is when the legislature and Arnie quit messing with it.
This didn't make it to the legislature but was something put out by CARB which every clean air bureaucrat in the other 49 states watches to see what they are going to throw at their state in turn. Just like most hotrod and custom fads. What the Cal govt passes tends to drift across the country good or bad.
