I'm 24 and have been trolling the board for a while now since someone at the cl***ic car boneyard in Spendora, TX told me about it while i was poking at a 60' El Camino. I had a couple grand burning a hole in my pocket at the time so what else do you do but go looking for future projects . Never really had a cl***ic or antique car of my own but my dad had a couple. And he and my uncles would regail me in stories of their youth and car past where they bought and sold cars for less money than what my shoes cost. All my uncles on both sides of my family are either mechanics or engineers of some sort and every one of them loved cars. I'd hear stories of toliet paper oil filters on flat heads and day trips to TJ for tuck and roll interiors and scallop paintjobs since they grew up around the San Bernardino valley back in the 50's. Anyways got into cars at a young age and decided to go to tech school for body and paint. Learned how to work with metal and some welding. Took a job in AR as a welder/brazer for an a/c company got bored of shooting turtles so I made it back to San Antonio working for an engineering company as a sheetmetal fabricator. Just keeping an eye out for that irresistible project to cross my path.
thanks for the welcome and maybe i will see some of you "locals" at the round up next month in austin.
been a longtime lurker myself cool to see more people from san antonio joining what part of town do you live in and what are you working on
sadly no , it was too far gone for what he was asking. I'm still looking for something maybe a 59-64 El camino or a pre-70's falcon ranchero. Or something else truck or truck like. I'll probably try to talk my friend in Arkansas out of his 64' Falcon once i go back this june for a wedding. He wouldn't let me have it last time i don't think he will give it up so easy, even though it doesn't run, he has no plans to fix it and he has to move it to mow the gr***...it's family ya know the story. I'm on the NE side of town over by Randoulph AFB in Converse. I'm currently working on just trying to keep my 97 Mustang GT running . I swear as soon as i paid the thing off it started breaking down on me. I'm also helping my buddy down the street on his rotary racecar.
Welcome to the board from another'un from NE SA. Seems like I saw a Falcon Ranchero at BiffBuzby's a couple Fridays past. You do know about that chingo, doncha? I'm planning on having my RedRamRoadster at the Roundup, but if I can't drive it I'll go modern and drive up anyway to look. We'll see y'all there. Fearless
Yeah i'm usually at Biffs every friday. I don't seem to remember a ranchero there but hell i could have walked right by it. There was a couple 70's Caminos out there last time and i think one of them was for sale but probably out of my price range. I'm looking for a "fixer-uper" not something restored like half the cars at Biff's. .........damn i just looked on craigslist there are 2- 1961 Ford Falcon Rancheros gah now i gotta count my pennies and sell my mustang.
Welcome from Corsicana ! Good luck on your hunt for a project ! There will be a nice swapmeet at the Roundup !
Welcome to the site and I remember that Ranchero... or at least a blue one that I thought was perfect. I sometimes take the caddy out there but that is a decent drive for me now. I normally do either Bun or Pigstand now but work always has me coming home late on Friday so I don't get out that often.
yeah i use to go to the pig stand when i worked downtown but since i'm out here on the northeast side and found biffs it's easier to go there. Was out last night and caught a slight cold. Didn't think it would drop into the 30's. There were some nice trucks out last night. Maybe i'll start looking towards a 30's-40's truck instead of the ranchero/el camino.
welcome to the board from south TEXAS. Great intro. Trucks are what it's all about. Good luck on your hunting triup.
