Got a 51 Chevy truck and a sbc is going in. Want to keep the stock front end on it but the steering box is a problem. Anyone have a solution for the box, what kind, where to mount. Anyone have pics of a steering box mounted with a sbc? Thanks

The easiest way to solve this problem is to go to a 'Task Force' steering box ('55-59 Chevy truck).
It fits inside the 'C' of the frame but works the same way (draglink) as the original. This will require cutting the original steering column and using 'Borgensen' style joints and a lower mount for the column, but that's no big deal.
Later this summer I will have a pictorial on this swap.

Is it that you want more room for the engine, or a power box. If you want easier effort at low speed I have been looking at the 'Royal' King Pin Kit from SSBC (it's roller bearing instead of bushings). It's supposed to lighten it up a fair amount at low speed.

Going to use a power streering box. Maybe the kit from Brothers. Anyone use one before?

Did you complete the pictorial? I searched but did not find it.

    Thanks,

No pictures but I bought a kit from Chevy Duty and took the steering box from a 77 chevy truck.

PS pump is off of a 65 chevelle or impala.

I got the steering box for free and the kit cost 95 or 100.

No pics on this pc but it's easy. I still have the straight axle and used a flaming river column I picked up at a swap meet.
