Built by Troy at Hollywood Hot Rods. Car looks like a sweet buid but it used a reproduction body and chassis just like all the other builders do these days.

I emailed him on price its a whopping $200,000

What do you guys think of this build and style? Apprantly 99% of the car is all handmade and one off.

I never heard of this guy until last week when i saw an eposode of Hot Rod on Direct TV and i looked him up.

I think it's killer. Quality and good looks. It's a way to nice for my taste but a killer car.

Troy is a great guy... And very good at what he does... I would imagine there is a very easy $200k in that car.

i like it too but i would be afraid to drive it at 200k.

I also am more of a fan of old school rods. I never had a thing for any of the modern coddington, foose stuff etc.

I do think for a modern rod its got some sweet design touches.

I love the shit out of it.

Wow i love the color but i dunno about the seats the rest of the interior is fine but those seats looks too much like patio furniture than car seats.

I've read about Troy and that shop. They do awesome work in my opinion. Is that car for everyone? Nope, but even the haters would have a hard time ignoring the quality of work involved.

If I win the lotto, he's getting a phone call.

There's so much more involved than that just being "a car". Troy built that and it put him on the map as an innovator in the world of hot rods. Takes something pretty special to do that. Line up what it was entered against when it ran for the AMBR title and it was definitely the most traditional in the bunch. Troy is one of the nicest most genuine people you will ever meet- and you can't put a price tag on that! ;)
Just posting it not knowing at all what it is and trying to stir up commotion because of a high sticker price is a little wrong. ANY shop asked to build a car like that would need to charge at least that and probably much more. On paper Troy has more hours in that car than he's asking for, but he can build another one if he wants to.
Guys still have the option to build anything they want in their own garages, but high-end shop built cars are now at at least that level- and far more.

I do like it but not everything about it. I was interested in buying it. I was expecting around a $130-150 price tag. I am dumping some of my early fuelie Vettes soon so I will have plenty of money to get into a sweet rod. Then I can dump my 33 back on Ebay where I found it.

I am going to call Troy this week to see what he can offer for my budget.

Once i saw this car It made me want to contact him because its very unique.

Id prefer a bench seat myself.

I still would prefer a local North East builder so i can keep an eye on things easier.

    Nice Quality Built car ....

But where does TRADITION come into play ?

How does one RESPECT TRADITION if the Car is NOT Traditional ?

That is a fantastic car and Troy is more than capable of making anything you want. That car there is nothing but absolute attention to perfection. I believe at first he was going after the Ridler with that car? You can get a SWEET deuce for less than half that if you keep your eye open and meet the right people. Or have one built for more than half that if you wish.

I think you should pass on it, you are obviously an investor and not a hot rodder, go buy another Corvette!

This thread is a joke, right?

"I am dumping some of my early fuelie Vettes"...narcissistic nice-Corvette-sorry-about-your-penis self aggrandizement.

"I will have plenty of money to get into a sweet rod"...that's ALMOST a line from Napoleon Dynamite. And what manner of delusional self gratification engenders that sort of statement. As in...who cares?

As far as Troy and his efforts...Hollywood Hot Rods, et al...he is a great guy, went to the mat to make his dreams come true, builds rolling art that speaks to his vision...that particular car was an AMBR contender, and the population of people that can make that claim is VERY small, indeed...

You use the term "reproduction body and frame' in a dismissive context, as if the only valid cars are original? That's just ignorant, and besides...it's a '32, not a '33, so how significant could it's origins be to you?

Finally, and not that Troy needs anyone to defend him, but the reason you haven't heard of him is because you aren't an active member of the larger hot rod community. Your language suggests that you are a peripheral participant.

More to the point, Troy is a member of this board, and these kind of third-party evaluations of a persons work, and the implication that his choices and methods of execution are substandard...that's just insulting.

So you claim you have $130-$150K to drop on this car? Do Troy and all of us a big favor. Change your mind. Forget about it. Move on. That car needs a custodian, a caretaker, not someone who's going to ruin it as an example of their own misguided sense of empowerment.

what misguided individuals you two are, it is EXACTLY this type of customer that makes it possible for guys like Troy to make a living at what he loves.

Do us all a favor 55Thunderboy call Troy, talk to him, let him build you what you want, don't let these guys and their jealousy get in your way.
