Im goin to Florida for my honeymoon from May 3rd to the 9th, gonna be staying in the fort lauderdale area. Ive never been to Florida before nor has the ole lady, So Im woundering if any florida Hambers have any sugestions of stuff to do in the area. Are there any car museums, shows goin on, drag race events, anything? We are thinkin of renting a bike for a day or to, to get some ocean front riding in. Any sugestions of things to do would be much appreciated!!! Sorry if the thread is a little off topic.
You will properly want to go to Home Depot on university drive and SR 595 in <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comffice:smarttags" /><st1:City w:st="on">Davie</st1:City> (west <st1:City w:st="on"><st1lace w:st="on">fort Lauderdale</st1lace></st1:City> on Friday night about 700m there are about 200 cars there every Friday Otherwise enjoy the beach

there's palm beach international raceway only a few miles from West palm beach, every wednesday and friday there is test n tune 10 bucks to watch, 25 to race all night. check out the site racepbir.com you can see if they have any events comin up... about an hour away from ft lauderdale there's also south beach only about 45 mins away if you like to see crazy people...
You might also want to check out: www.floridacarshows.com and try to pick up a copy of the "Cruise News". Lots going on all over the state.

hey guys thank you very much for all the sugestions on stuff to do! Don garlets will ne a must!!!!! I'll check out the car show schedual on the link posted, hpefully something cool will be happinin. I can't get to overboard on the car events, cause sure the lady wants a honey moon too not just more car stuff but she's a good girl and puts up withy obsesion!
Our club gets together at the Mai Kai at least once a month. The place is beyond amazing. Rachels doesn't hold a candle to it aside from the strippers. Diesel, shoot me a PM with some info. Our club hangs in Ft. Lauderdale.
I do not know too much of that area, I lived in Daytona Beach, but I do know that time of year there is pretty much perfect.
A couple of Rum Barrels at the Mai Kai will put your johnson rod in your watch pocket in short order. What ever ya do, don't order the mystery drink.
Also check out the Old Town cruise in Kissimmee on your way down. Old Town is just a few miles from Disney and they have something car related Wed. through Saturday, with Sat. being best for H.A.M.B. related vehicles. It is hard for me to describe Old Town, but I guess you could call it an entertainment park. The streets are brick, and there are all types of shops, restaurants, and rides there. Another thing unusual about the place is that they have a huge place to park right next to where the cruise cars park. This lot has security provided by Old Town and entry and exit is easy. There are some good deals on motel rooms too, if you don't mind Super 8 or something like that. I guess you can tell I am fond of the place...Go every chance I get.
If you're into history stuff check out St.Augustine for a couple of days. Take the trolley around town. Eat at the Columbia and do the San Sebastian winery shop.

Thanks everyone for even more input on stuff to do when Im in town, ive never been to fl, and I cant wait to get away from the snow, and rollercoaster weather weve been havin here in MN. Ive finally booked our flight, and rental car, so now Im really hittin the googles, and the internets for our game plan. I know the lady would prolly be cool with jus sittin on the beach (which im sure we will a little) im all about gettin around town and seein the sites! It sounds like the Mai Kai, Don Garlits museum, and renting a bike are on the for sure to do list. any more sugestions are much appreciated! Thanks again!
