Anyone else ever seen one of these. It's a Cadillac intake manifold I bought awhile back. It's like every other CD-694 4X2 but it doesn't have the heat riser. I'm sure it hasn't been modified and I think it's NOS.
Here is mine. I think any caddy intake is pretty rare. Wish it was a horne instead. The guy that I got mine from had an unheated one also. He said they were pretty uncommon.
I also have mine only in "mockup" stage. I found it last year on E-bay and got it for $440. I was extremely happy to find it. Since then I have seen several for sale so for being rare you can find them, mine also does not have the heat riser.
Go i wish I had a Horn as well at least a Cragar.. yours is the more rare of the two that were available..I found an article in a 1956 Hot Rod magazine introducing the Edelbrock "Cold" series.. it came with 2 carb throttle extensions as well a 2 block off plates. I didn't have the block off plates so my buddy Luke machined the exact replica of the ones that came with the intake.. they are also shaped as the caddy logo.. I've only seen 1 other one and it was in a old picture of a race car the regular edelbrock is pretty common for caddy intakes.. but non the less a kick**** intake... so ya Gray your is the "Rare-er" one
Hey Evel, That's what I'm talking about. Is that your intake pictured? I know I can make my own but I was wondering what the originals looked like. Are those the ones your buddy fabbed for you? You don't have dimensions or pics before you mounted your intake do you? Man, if you could email me a good picture of what you have there so I could have some made that would be neato keen..ha. Nice mill by the way. I'm kinda funny with this stuff. I seem to build cars around engines or some kind of speed part I've found. Thanks everyone
Why do you guys have them mounted backwards? Evel got it right. I see about 3 of the regular CD-694s for every one without the heat riser. I have bought and sold one of each. They are out there and can be bought for about the same $$$. I wouldn't say that one was worth more than the other. But there are probably less of the "cold" style. The one I don't see very often for sale is a CD-693 tri power intake. And I gotta agree with Evel....Horne is the rarest.
Funny thing I picked up a Horne intake for cheap on ebay from someone who listed it goofy and thought it was on Olds intake. Well...it wasn't cheap but less than what it was worth...what ever that is. Some of this stuff has gotten ridiculous. The pitfall of ebay I guess. Howdy Brock. I've contacted you before thru ebay about some Olds and Cad goodies. That's mostly what I like...Cad, Olds, and Stovebolt stuff.
Evel you are absolutely right. My intake DOES have the heat riser. I knew what I wanted to say in my head, but it didn't come out on the keyboard. My turn to "open mouth...insert foot".
I know it's been a while on this post, though do these intakes specifically take Holley 94s or Stromberg 97s?
Not to sound silly but can you put a Stude intake on a Cadillac? I see some cheap multi intakes pop up every now and then.
Only other 4x2 I have seen is the old Log kit 4x2 you weld together. Today olds-cad stuff is very hard to find.
Not to get too far off topic but HAMB member jfrolka sells a cast log set up with no heat riser. I purchased a pair and can't wait to get em bolted up. I think if I were building an early open hood car I'd like the early Edelbrock but building a Kustom that rarely has it's hood up the log will work just fine.
if you're asking if one fits versus the other, no, they both fit on the same way. If you meant do you have to run three bolt carbs, I would say probably yes, I dont think there's room for any of the 4 bolt carbs.
Thanks Jonny. I had heard both the Holley and Stromberg are sufficient for that intake but wanted to clarify. How's the quality of the brand new Strombergs (England, not speedway)??
