With such wide coverage I was just wondering how many Houston Texas area Hambers attend this weekly show? With an average of 390 to 400 cars weekly there has to be a few.

I figure we have to have some on here. The first show of the year we just had was packed and the official count was 500+ but thats not a real accurate figure. There were at times over 600 entries and many new cars. The wife and I do a lot of pictures out there for http://www.hotrodchat.com/gallery/. She has a 48 ford candy apple chop top ride and I drive my roadster or a 34 chop top coupe with matching trailer. We should all try to meet up some Saturday.

I find it kinda funny that something called the niftee 50's has SO many 70's, 80's, and 90's cars. Is there at least a good range of 50's and earlier cars?

There is a weekly thing in Escondido, Ca called "Crusin Grand" where the chevelles and the 80's pickups attempt to out power-park the 90's vettes. Everyone of course has Buddy Holly blaring and 50's style decor all over the place. I mean, what could be more 50's than a '94 Vette? Everyone stays very close to their ride and could give two ****s about anyone else. Last time I went with a friend and we saw a VERY sweet shiny channeled 34 coupe roll in and park forward into a spot next to an Iroc camaro that was backed in with a display:rolleyes:. The Iroc guy looked so pissed that he was there. The 34 left within minutes. So did we.

And I'm not trying to be critical, it kinda came out that way. What I mean is, would this be something worth driving to from Austin? Or is it an 80's fest? I love a good car nite..

Every Saturday night weather permitting and the location is Spring cypress road @Champion Forrest close to Houston Texas-Spring cypress has an exit off I-45 on one end and off Hwy 249 on the other end. We have a fulll time PA system with disjockey and plenty of security so bring the family. many food establishments on location if your hungry.

Is it a show or an informal cruise in?

Go to this site. It's from those who run the show to get an idea of the turnout.

    HERE

I get there every once in a while.

I go 7-8 times a year. I see new cars that I haven't seen before nearly every time. I enjoy going to it. You do see cobras,mustangs,chevelles,55-57 chevies, rat rods,30's,40's,50's60's carsof all makes, and traditional Hamb only cars. Some I like, some I don't but I really don't try to find a place thats just traditional cars. I am open minded and like to visit with people. I don't know if I would come from Austin unless I wanted a road trip. There is even volkswagons that I like there. Lots of good people to talk to. Oh yeah and a purple metal flake corvair convertable.

Truth be told it's a good event. As hard as it is to get regular events organized and still have a good turn out, these folks have done well. You get a good mix of everything. Granted you WILL see the same cars every weekend if you go every weekend which is why we don't. The past few years I've made a point to get out there 3-4 times.

I like traditionally styled hot rods as much as the next guy but I'm a ****er for cars in general. That's kind of the point of this event is to get all these different cars in one spot and get people to visiting each other.

Not worth driving from Austin but it IS worth checking out if you're already in town.

I'm the same as many on here, but really you never know what'll show up. I've always had a good time though. I'm not into the muscle cars, but it's easy enough to skip over them. There generally is a good mix and it usually takes an hour or 2 to walk though them all. Also, there is usually at least several cars that'll stop you in your tracks. It's laid back and there aren't too many posers to deal with, usually.
I guess the best part is that is it weekly, if you miss one just go to the next one.
I wouldn't drive all the way from Austin, but if your already here for something else then definitely try to go.

When we first moved into Houston this is the first thing we attended it was a great way to meet new people. It is just a cruise in ran by some nice people who go out of there way to give a place for anyone with a pre-79 vehicle to hang out. If you cant respect them for that they probably dont need you there anyway. Do I like all the cars that show up there...............Hell No.......but if I dont like it I just keep on walking just because its not "Cool" in your/my eyes doesnt mean someone doesnt love it as mutch as we love our van or sweated/spent any less on it

....................oh yea I am usually about three vehicles down from the purple corvair convertible lol

I go on oc***ion. Not to often because it is every weekend and you take it for granted that it's always there 9 months out of the year.

We attend probably every weekend, Randy who runs the event does an excellent job juggling all of the responsibilities that go along with running an event of this magnitude. And he does not make a dollar off of it. A lot of cities don't have a good place for like minded gear heads to hang out and talk cars, so I consider ourselves VERY fortunate to have niftee50ees in out city. I usually don't walk around too much and look at cars, it is more about hanging out with friends every saturday night and bs-ing about our past week. And I have been able to meet alot of new people there.
