I got a 1937 Tin Side V8 60 and want to drop it into a 1930 Model A and need to know if it's possible to hook the V8 60 Trans to the drive shaft of the Model A? Any info would be appreciated
yes. need to use all the ujoint parts from the v8. firewall clearance mite be an issue with stock length driveshaft
Short answer is, "Yes." As jetmek says ... more specifically, the V8-60 unique U-joint will fit the Model A driveshaft. You will need the V8's four bolt "clamshell" to match the 60's transmission. 60hp or 85hp, clamshell's the same. Long answer is a question. Which 60 transmission are you using? The p***enger car model is different than the commercial which uses the same gears as the 85hp and has a different case. Nothing is simple. You did not mention whether or not you've worked out the requirements for mounting the (1) Pedals, (2) Emergency brake, (3) Wishbone. Makes a difference depending on which transmission you actually have. "Hooking" it to the driveshaft isn't the only challenge.
Remember that the V8 60 will produce a lot less torque than the Model A since it has much less displacement. Unless you hop it up you may not be happy with it. Charlie Stephens
Sorry I didn't disclose trans type it's a 1937 P***enger. Haven't even thought about pedals and all that good stuff, just trying to make sure the drive shafts will hook up and will worry about pedals and firewall clearance later. Nice to know it will work though. As far as power it will just be an around town driver and no big hills where I live so I'm not worried about torque. I just think a miniature V8 in a car looks cooler than a 4 Banger Thanks for all this input guys I really appreciate it.
