I think a chopped coupe hit the nail also. and with his statements, opens up further avenues for what is the standard nowadays. and is where my build is heading. a little more creature comforts just treading the line, and hopefully doing it right. And as for you on this board with your questions and youth. You are exactly what we need...ghost

True, they all help me in some way or another. When I get done with my 49 it'll probably be a little on the traditional side and a little on the not-so-traditional side. I guess we'll have to wait and see how it goes. Thanks to everyone for the help. If any new people still want to chip in with their opinions, go ahead, I'll keep reading as they come in! =]

Those of us that lived through the '50's and '60's want to have the cars that we saw back then, but couldn't afford. Now that we are old, crusty, and maybe have a little more money, we want to reproduce that car. It will have everything that was available in the '50's and 60's, but nothing that wasn't, thus 'traditional'. (When the 'pony' cars of the mid-60's came along, we said 'WTF is this???', thus the cut-off of 1964 for traditional rods.)

madma...I think you're just dragging a stick across our picket fence - you know what we're talking about - your "I'm just askin'...." is a bit too obvious.

Just look at it this way , build what you want and how you want it and if it make you happy that's all that matters ! It's your car !

I'm definitely doing that!!! I was just telling another guy... I'm not looking to build it in any specific time period or whatever. I'm just going to build it and whatever it turns out to be is what it will be! I was just wondering because it seemed like everyone, or most everyone, on here was talking about "traditionals".

I like to think of cars that are built in a traditional style (aesthetically speaking) but have some of the modern comforts, I call them "traditionally-inspired" rides.

I think everyone has had a thread deleted at one time or another... my wife asked the same question about "traditional", and I didn't make fun of her and tell her to do a search... haha..

So far this is all that I've really done besides vacuum it out, wash it, tear the old material off the seat frames, etc...

Not much, but it's something. Tomorrow night my boyfriend and I are going to weld the holes and then I think we're going to try and set a date to take it over to a friend's house to chop it.
