Has anyone had any luck with a vendor who can convert the tach to electronic? I'm running a '54 331" Hemi with a Hunt HEI, and an alternator, so a mechanical tach is not going to work.
You would be better off selling it and getting what you need,,why ruin a good Mech tach and a conversion would just be another tach I think as the 2 have nothing in common other than the face ( so I would think )
--------------- What Little Wing said.... But if you have a reason to do it... ( it is YOUR car)... try Williamsons, their pretty good. www.williamsons.com You can also run a mechanical Tach off of the crankshaft buy tapping the crank bolt and using an adapter which I would do before having it converted. Much less expensive and you save the tach. Terry
I was just checking into this pretty extensively for the same reasons. It is SUPER expensive! Unless you're really fond of the Tach you have and have plenty of dough to go around, you are better off picking up something already setup. That's the unfortunate reality.
X3.................... You need an electronic tach. Much easier to come by then a Mechanical Tach. I have an Older 8 grand Stewart Warner Electronic Tach and a NOS 12 Volt Sending unit for sale. Maybe you want trade for the Mechanical Tach?
Terry O, I'm in the same boat probably and would like to know more about the alternative you proposed. What sort of adaptor would I need for the crank bolt? Many thanks to all in this thread for the expertise!!
