Most people get face lift to look younger. I did mine to look older.

I'm going with this '60 GMC grill (w.out the "GMC") I'm getting from a fellow hamb'er this weekend...

If I don't end up liking the GMC grill, I can pick up a '61 Chevy grill from someone else I know. I definately like the new hood though.

Wow, I must be doing something right to get all y'all's goat. So what's so un-traditional about my truck? It has radials? So do half the cars on here. They were brand new when I bought the truck. I'm not going to throw them away to satisfy a couple of nancys. Disc brakes? You can ride your kids around on shitty drums if you want, not me. I like to stop when I mash the brake pedal. Otherwise, it's a stock body pre-'65 Chevy truck that's loud, fast, and low. I mean it's not like I put a vette roll pan in the back or some 20" billet wheels on it and painted a neon heartbeat on the bottom. The hood and grill are factory parts. How is that not "traditional"?

And I never claimed it was "finished". At the end of the day, it's a work in progress. And what is traditional anyway anymore? Everything "traditional" is all muddled up nowadays. "Traditional" can mean alot of things to a lot of people. It certainly is lowered "tradionally". I certainly appreciate the effort that goes into cars having everything "just so", but I draw the line at things like paying $400 for some center caps so some codger can hug my nuts on the innernetz. I just don't have that kind of scratch laying around.

Or are all y'all saying it's not traditional because it's a truck? Trucks and hot rods have always gone together like peas and carrots. And it would seem to be this way on the hamb as well, judging by the number of truck threads. They seem to have the greatest number of pages too. Go figure.

My dad built "traditional" cars and trucks in the '50's and '60's in socal. If I posted a picture of his '57 chevy pickup from 1959, you'd probably say it wasn't "traditional" too. I'm not really doing anything different than he did. At the end of the day, you can't please everybody and I build what I like and my balls are traditional. Suck 'em.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not butt hurt by the negative comments. Mildly amused would be more like it. Thanks for at least keeping me motivated to work on my stuff. At the end of the day, we're all doing the same thing. Sharing love for old shit and keeping it from returning to the elements it was created from. Think about it.

I agree, stick to your guns. If traditional was all this forum was about...gassers wouldn't be on here, they were early drag cars. How are they traditional? Your truck is what YOU believe it to be. An old school truck is traditional as ya get.
Also, Fergusen, at least you are not one of these shmucks that go out and get a pre-fabbed bucket body and frame. Now THAT is lame.
    Power to ya.

    You like your truck right?

Then who gives a shit about what all the nah sayer's have to say.

And some one made the comment about "look whats been slithering under the door lately, sad."

Not everyone has '49 Mercs or '32 Fords or what ever it is the general consensus deems cool. But we all have to start some where. And it's those with these negative attitude's that walk all over folks with out said cool cars that drive people away from here.

I've told lot's of people here locally about this site and many have said "Been there and won't be back" I ask why, they say "Too many assholes on that board." Whats so cool about that?

    I like your truck BTW.
