My experience would point to the carb. Basically a fuel delivery problem. I had the same problem on a 318. Completely tore down the carb, cleaned and rebuilt. Same thing. Got a new one, just like a new motor. there's my .02

Sounds like your timing is retarded, but i betyou got a busted timing gear and your cam is retarded a tooth. You would have to be severely starving for fuel if it was a fuel issue, really need more info, just my 02

  9. Va*** leak, check the line that goes to your va*** modulator they pop off on the ****** end all the time or get oil soaked and swell up and leak like a sieve.

  10. You're saying that with the throttle wide open, that the motor just "idles"??

My first guess is that it's definitely a spark timing issue. You need to put a timing light on it - also need to make sure that the mechanical advance setup inside the distributor is intact and working.
Make sure that the vacuum advance canister is connected to a vacuum source.

  11. Wouldn't just sit there and not rev up with a bad acc.pump
Ditto for timing off, fuel pump ,vac advance.
A 235 doesn't have a timing chain, does it? I believe it's gear to gear.
    Still need for info.
At this point ,I'd look for a bug stuck in the carb main jet!

  12. If it Idols, maybe it was voted off this week?

Engrish as a 2nd language these days. ;)

  13. Hey,my race partner came up with the answer.

    The carb linkage fell off.

I agree, sounds like it's not getting enough fuel.or the throttle lever is loose on the throttle shaft?

  15. I was going to say, it wasn't something as dumb as unhooked linkage somewhere is it? Couple weeks ago backed out of a parking spot in my daily and then had no gears, WTF? Got it so I could look under and found part of the trans linkage had fallen apart.

I had the same problem with my old 52..... it would idle and rev fine while in park but in gear it stumbled.......you might need a higher stall torque converter........worked wonders for me.....
