We have talked about this before. I now have the need, to use only American Hand tool's, for our new shop. The owner is VERY pro active on American tool's, only . (first choice of course ) Most ***ume Snap On is, but I'm not sure! There is Mac Tool's / Cornwell ? Don't know about the last tow. While I'm asking Who make's High Quality Tool cabinet's for a two car Enclosed trailer's, Also American Made. Bob Patterson Engineering LLC divco13@aol.com
Snap-On hand tools are american made, although I have seen an exception- Snap-On owns Sandvik, who makes cutting tools. I have seen a few swedish-made cutting tools marked Snap-On. I say this as a former Snap-On dealer.
Paul Gill, at Moduline cabinets makes awesome aluminum cabinets for your trailer, He's also a drag racer, good guy.
i'm a snapon dealer. . . anything that's chrome plated and says snapon is made in the US, and says USA on the tool. A majority of the rest of the snapon line is us made, but I see some stuff going over seas to stay compe***ive price wise.
Good luck period. Some proclaim to be made in America...yet if you read the fine print, only the packaging/advertising is... Same goes for tool manufacturers...some of their tools are, some are not. One company can have half their product line made overseas...yet the rest are from here. They can sweep it all under the made in USA banner if a certain percentage of them are (or their packaging is) made here.
Why work for a place that you have to supply your own tools and then the owner tells you that your tools have to be made in the USA ? If I have to pay for them and I have to supply my own tools , then why should he care where they are made . If that is what he has in mind then he is not going to have much of a business . You can't run a business with just USA tools !
I never had a boss that cared who made my tools, most did care how I used them. The atmosphere around your shop must be pretty intense if boss imagines he can control that! Sounds like somebody has some control issues. I really dont believe I could have accommodated a boss that had his nose that far into my tool box. Just curious. Has the workplace changed that much since my retirement? When I was working any such request/requirement would have been welcomed by me, since it was protocol for the company to furnish any items specifically required. High dollar and special tools that were /make/manufacture-specific were furnished in the tool crib.
LISTA - probably the BEST kept secret in tool cabinets. "Spendy" ? - well maybe, but not at all when compared to what they get for the traditional BIG NAME tool boxes.
I agree! That's just NUTS! It's one thing to want to buy all USA tools, but to think that you can dictate what tools your employees buy is insane. I think I'd look for another job.
Man even for goverment contacts they don't require that. Well even the US Goverment doesn't use US made tools.
