I went to the Salt Lake Autorama. Pretty ****py show for $14.50! But I got to see my pedal car in a show. Here is what I took photos of. My first car ever in a show and it's hidden behind a sign! You can sorta make out the track nose and the wheels.
I also was underwhelmed by the show. A couple comments about a couple pics- the early-lookin' SBC has billet pulleys on it (hard to see here) and the green '31 has a unisteer rack on it. A couple good ways to ruin an otherwise trad look. Yes, I know my avitar engine also has billet pulleys, but with aluminum heads and a B&M blower I'm not trying to fool anyone about what the engine is.
I noticed the rack on the green 31 I was like what the heck it's missing half! Looking back at the pictures it wasnt that bad of a show but I didn't take photos of all the stupid vendor **** and the "show" mustangs or the bone stock 80's corvettes.
I was halfway to the show when I realized I'd forgotten my camera so I can't post any pics. I did think the Stags speed shop was pretty neat.
Umm I don't really know what you are trying to say here. But Bonneville isn't too far away from here and people do travel pretty far to get there.
Thanks for posting!......I myself dont like the vibe of indoor shows I think they are a necessary evil to get us through the winter COME ON SUMMER!!!!!!
If you want to see the ENTIRE show visit the show photos page or fresh frank links on www.thanks2frank.com I think we posted 1600 photos from the show in total. Two things we really liked were the Hugs for Life pinstriping booth, very cool to get to watch the stripers work and Chip Foose. Love or hate his work I have to say Chip Foose was genuinely nice to every person that came through his line. He's a better man than I could be. And although its pretty unHAMBY, here is a photo I took of the "Best of Utah" 1968 Mustang by Kindig-It Designs (I just really dig this shot) http://www.thanks2frank.com/Autorama%20gallery%20five%202009/index.htm www.thanks2frank.com
ok I cant figure out how to insert a pic in here or get it to link the the photo that I want, oh well, Enjoy!
SLC has a very active car scene there are a lot of cars there ! I never thought I would defend Utah .
Pinman is right there is a very active car scene in Utah. Something going on almost every weekend in the summer. I thought the show was pretty good, not enough traditional cars, but thats not the shows fault, they just didn't enter. Here's some pics of our clubs display, most of the stuff came out of our club house. We have owned the 40 Ford since 1960 and still race it occasionally. Mick
Chris from Salt Flats Speed Shop was there with his 33 Vicky conversion and his pop's 33. That Vicky is really well crafted, he's got skills. Other than seeing Chris's car that show was good for me finding out my Girl's got a thing for 50's to mid-60's Vettes... In my opinion, Bonneville is the best gig going.
Thanks for the pics guys, I couldn't make it down this year and think it is pricey for what it is anyway but can't wait for the summer car shows. And I personally know 3 people from work who moved to Utah from Michigan not to mention all the folks from Cally, we have a great car scene and one of the best economys in the country.
Thanks for the pics. Car shows are kinda like a buffet, get what you like and move on. The problem is how much are they charging for you to get a plate. The pics you took are of some very clean cars. I really liked the yellow '56. Like you stated, I'm sure there are a lot of cool rides in Utah and it's not the shows fault that they didn't enter.
Evening Mick, Love those 40 Fords!! One of Henry"s best!! Might see you if you go to VLV, will be there Fri, Sat and Sun. Later Dave
