400 stroker

    Im looking to build 400 mopar. Anybody have any suggestions or sites to gain information from? anything to look for? Anyone ever build one!? been reading the mopar bible about stroking one and some of these motors are pretty nasty.

    here is the best site I've found so far. The 400 is a great motor to start with. At standard bore you can go out to almost 504 cubes. Sick. You can go from a 3.38" stroke to a 4.25"

    give Diamonback engines a shot ...........plenty of research going on with the 400 Mopars there...and new intakes coming for that deck height block.......

    wow thanks guys.. stroking one is all new to me.. so i wanna know about it ha. been collecting big blocks and a 400 seems to be a dam good canidate

    Probably the best non-exotic big block Mopar combination I ever built was as follows.

    .035 over 400 block (early '72 blocks are the best if you can find one)

    Steel 440 crank, turn mains to 400 size, turn rods to 2.200 big block Chevy size and offset grind to 3.900 stroke, take .125 off the counterweights and the motor will balance out without too much trouble as long as the parts don't get too heavy.

    Use .400 long aftermarket BBC rods.

    Custom pistons, with .990 BBC pin size.

    4.375 x 3.900 = 469 cubic inches that will really rev. and build plenty of power with decent heads and cam without spending a fortune.

    toss in a 440 crank and get ya a 451.........
