Wouldn't that be a "Junque Yard"?

  6. Most junkyards were cleaned out of their pre-war cars in the 1970 and 1980s. You certainly won,t find any Delahaye , Hotchkiss or Voisin anymore. Maybe an old Renault , Citroen, Peugeot, Simca or Panhard.

If you're looking for a nice 80's european wreck for tuning you gonna be so happy !! Pre GM Opel's are my favorites ...:)

All the oldest junks (nothing really hot .. ) are in old farm barn, watch by nice dogs (mostly est-german sheep keeper) and friendly shotgun equiped white trash inbred farmer..

Don't worry, food and wine is great where you're going ..;)

    enjoy your trip

I was stationed in Germany in the 60's and all the military junk yards had mostly American cars and trucks. I drove Plymouths, Dodges, tons of Fords and Chevys both cars and trucks plus all the GI cars that were shipped over. They probably buried them like they did in Texas!
I drove a 1935 Frence built Ford 35 passenger bus that was powered by a Flathead V8, around the depot where I was stationed.

If you are in the area of Peregieux, SW part of the country, look up the local M-Benz and Alfa dealer, Andre Pillette, a father and son operation. They had a huge super auto salvage yard many years ago when I was in the area...US Army (before DeGaulle threw us and NATO out). Last time I was there was 1978. May, or may not be there still, it's worth a try.

The only good thing to come out of France was the Allied Forces post WWII. Your wasting your time.

I think he may be looking for those brackets that hold surrender flags...I think they still have them on all their cars.

Never could understand why the french, who are world renound for being "sexy" people, have never been able to build a sexy car.

I mean, jeeeeez.... for all the fancy advertising with Grace Jones, I cant really tell if it's a car she's trying to sell, or a toaster..... Tho I'm thinking it really is a toaster, cuz that's what it looks like, a toaster on wheels, and she does eat it at the end of the commercial.

And since we are on the subject... Why did they put 140 mph / 220 kph speedos in Citroens? I mean, it's like a hampster with a 9 inch pecker... It might look impressive, but it'll never get used. :D

  26. While I am always willing to pick on those surrender monkies you do realize this board is a direct result of some hot rod inspiration in France many years ago!?;)

  27. If nothing else, Citroen's are a good source of neat alternators,
    a Paris Rone unit like this still puts out the same power as one twice the size;
Full sized Citroen's have lots of intresting hydrualic parts,
thanks to the intergrated syspension/steering/braking system.
Renault 25 turbo gearboxes are worth picking up, five gears and plenty strong enough to take even fairly wild V8's.

I kind of think Tman has a point, I still figure the low slung running boardless look which is 'Hot Rod' owes it's birth to things like the 30's Traction Avant

Un "minivan" avec le motor de F-1? Sexi? Non... Drole? Oui! :D

    Corvette @ 25 mph = sexy!
Laborghini parked in front of a vegas casino = sexy!
Ferrari sitting at a red light = sexy!!!

A 900 h.p. minivan @ 500 mph = redneck!!!!! Like something Uncle Jessie would drive in a race against Boss Hogg. :p
