Just got home from the very big Shriner's swap meet in Kansas City, Missouri. It was held in the parking lots of the big amusement park Worlds of Fun and it was full. Many vendors, spectators, and buyers. Lots of Shriners were around to haul our stuff to the truck and load heavy things. My favorite brother-in-law and I had a good time. Saw only 3 Hambers including Carkiller (my buddy Cal) from Iowa, and the Beemer family Von, Chris, and Chris' lovely better half Lacey. Those folks were all vendors. The swap meet was huge but traditional hot rod parts were scarce but good quality for the most part. My favorite purchase of the day was not one but 2 late 30's LaSalle grilles. So very hard to find and these were nice ones to boot.

My brother in law Lawrence bought a nice 235 Chevy six banger and many other truck parts. My other purchases included 3 new radial wide whitewall tires and a nice pair of 40 Ford rims. I never get tired of buying tires and wheels. It is my weakness.

Lawrence also bought a real cool child's wagon made from unpainted aluminum that had "The Overland" painted on the side. Don't have a photo of it yet but it looked like a good buy to me.
Rich, sorry to let you down buddy, but I did not take photos. I took my camera and told Lawrence that I needed to take some photos for "this guy in Georgia" but I just had too much stuff to carry and it was a long way around this event. I left my heavy camera in the truck. Forgive me!
I went with a list for a couple of my projects and found about 85% of what I was looking for. I even had money left over (guess I didn't do it right.) Over the last few years, I've pretty much built my '34 Chevy truck from that meet. It is always good. I didn't meet any new Hambers ,but I didn't really know who I was looking for... Maybe next time. Are you going to Lawrence next month Paul?
It was good seeing you again Paul, not sure I agree with Lacie being the better half though.... . I did see Ravin61 there, and met HAMBr Chucklz for the first time. It was our first time selling at a swap meet, and we had a pretty good couple of days there.
Hey, when is the Lawrence swapmeet.....first Sat in June? I was up at KC too, but didn't have my official 'Hamber' attire on... Ed.
We had a spot at KC, and sold some stuff, made lots of freinds, and had a few cold brews. Didnt end up buying much and had a great time. It was great meet. I met the Beemer clan who had some parts for my Baby Lincoln at quite a reasonable price. So, I bought them. It is astounding how much an 8EL weighs; my cousin and uncle are still nursing their backs! I saw Bud and Joe again, forgive me for not knowing their HAMBr names, and friends I have not seen for a while. I wish I would have ran into Poverty Flats, again. He is always great to talk with. Too bad I had to go to work that afternoon!
Hey Paul was good seeing you, enjoyed the whole 2 minutes of visit. He he. Next time dont be so long winded. Cal
Also, I passed up one of these because I didn't know what it was, and neither did the seller, now I do. What's a good price, if I can go back and find it?
$$$$ Hah Hah P-Flats selling car parts !! LOL >>>>. #### A sign of weakness !! Eat Mo--Sausage LOL >>>>. Oh cool score on the parts Paul >>>>.
Thanks, I go as a spectator every year, but wasn't sure if it was May or June....think I'll rent a spot. Thx again. Ed.
I was there, I got there at 6:00am and stayed until 3:00pm. I tried like hell to empty my wallet. No matter how hard I tried nobody seemed to want to come down on their prices. It was probably just me being a tight wad. I did hang out with a few hambers and other friends as well. All and all it was a great day,I really enjoy just hanging out with good friends shooting the ----. Dang I should have bought that belt sander.
Thank you Ken. I passed on the grilles and waited 2 hours and went back and bought them after thinking how rare they are. We've all seen the nice Westerguard Kustoms using those grilles. And they ain't making 'em anymore. You have to buy stuff when it is for sale.
You didn't buy those grilles from Sodbuster did you? I know he was selling a couple last year, but I don't remember them being that nice.
The only things I regret is the the things I pass on and come back to buy and find them gone. Keep looking, good stuff is still out there and you keep proving it.
I met him last spring at that meet, real nice guy. He had an A coupe that I regret not buying. Oh well.
I went and had a great time. Spent all my money and couldn't be happier. Bought a fairly nice 30-31 chevy car grille for $15. The same guy had 4 or 5 of them. I think that was my coolest purchase. Any hambers buy that rail dragster front end setup up on the hill? I didn't ask how much, but I thought that was a pretty cool piece.
