I shot Dave Lohr for one of the magazines I work for. Dave and I shot at an abandoned Gas Station and at Milan Dragway. Everyone at the track loved Dave's 31' The guy with the beard in the photo looking at Dave's 31' is Lee Detrick. He made the first run at Milan on opening day in 1964. These are some of the photos that didn't make the cut. I'll post the which issue it's coming out in when I find out. Dave is really cool guy and I enjoyed shooting him.

He was still working the bugs out. I think there were a few low 11's. I was looking for Burnout shots a few launches at Milan. Dave didn't have time to change anything on the car. It was a test and tune on opening day. There were about 250 cars there, so he had to jump right back in line so he could get enough runs for what I needed. We got some great shots on the return run after the track closed.
Dave's a great builder with a good eye.

I had posted this on another thread Saturday night, this is how it ran..I had a great time!..Dave

Out of the box, not touching anything it ran.....11.23 then 11.21and a 11.29 going side to side part way down......The Truck had allot of bite Saturday, it kept pushing thru the line lock on the burnouts..and pushing thru the tree lights...The last p*** they had me kill it because of ****** fluid.........I have to pull the whole thing out again to see where it's coming from, it looks like it's coming from under my trans shield...It may be coming out the breather up off the trans case ?..I rarely have leaks....I will get it pulled soon like in the next few day's.......It needs allot more fuel on the top end and fuel pressure...it was on the conservative side today.....Last year out of the box it went high 11's, and by the end of the year it went 10.89..........So I now I can get this thing allot faster with all the winter changes that were done....and when the engine gets maxed out sometime this year...I will hit the new nitrous ****on and have even more fun.........I was worried about showing up and running at this track, not being a local....but everyone that ran the track was super nice and that goes for all the drag racers as well...all super nice...I had a great time !.........and thanks, Mike The Photo Guy !......Littleman

Dang it. You were 30 minutes from my house and I didn't know it! Next time you run Milan, please let me know!

I suspect I know the gas station, too. I probably got gas there in high school!

Congrats on some great runs. Keep it up.

Great thread Dave, It answered a lot of questions I have about your bad ride. I'll be bugging you while I write the story. Jerry, our tech guy at Milan has seen more cool rides than most people will ever see if they live to 100. We were talking about your truck Sunday. He loved it. He thought it captured the basic idea of Hot Rodding "Going fast while looking cool" He also said "Make sure your buddy Dave gets some arm straps soon. If that guys lost his hands, it wood be a huge loss to Hot Rodding." We have a nostalgia event at Milan coming up on Saturday September 26th. A bunch of my friends are going to match race their nostalgia funny cars and front engine dragsters. There going to be a ton of G***er's also. Your Hot Rod truck would fit right in. Thanks again for bringing the truck out.

this truck has always looked the part... the fact that it runs this fast puts it one peg higher on the cool meter.

To keep it in perspective... I'm thinking Death's Doorstep is going to have to run 9's!!!!!!
