I know there probably isn't many Falcon owners out here, but I have to ask because this question is killing me. I know you can swap a 170, 200, and 250 into any 60-65 Falcon and it will only need minor modifications. BUT has anyone done, seen, or heard of, someone swapping a 240 from an Econoline into a Falcon? I got a 144 and dying to get that out, but not go the V8 route. This 240 is really the first motor I've found that is in good order and can get everything for a VERY good price.
i think you'll find that A. there are a LOT of falcon owners here and B. you can't easily fit the 250 six into a roundbody and C. you'll REALLY have your job cut out for you trying to fit a 240 in one. the 144-170-200 are basically all the same dimension whereas the 250 has a wider and taller block, and uses a larger water pump which makes the overall length too log for the fan to mount up. not saying you absolutely CAN'T use a 250, it's just difficult compared the the 144-170-200. the 240/300 is fine for trucks and midsize cars but getting it to work in the roundbody is a bitch. you'd be better off in the long run getting a 200 and C4 or 4spd. 200 and some 170's have 7 main bearing cranks and are nearly indestructible.

Welcome to the HAMB btw, lots of great information on here including Falcon related topics. Look up the doing falcons right thread, it really is great!
Thanks for all the links and info so far guys, I really appreciate it. I'm still a ways off from getting on the motor swap, if I do one, because I got mine torn down as far as possible right now trying to treat the rust and getting it ready for paint. I, in all honesty, am wanting to do a 200 swap into mine because mine is going to be a daily driver for a bit until I get some stuff figured out. (AKA getting a job again after being in Iraq and trying to get on my cities police department.) But again, Thanks for all the input so far. I'll be sure to introduce myself and check out the Falcon portion of this site.
The 200 is your best bet, the 250 trans bolt pattern is the same as a small block ford. The radiator needs to be moved forward for a 250 install. The 240 300 series also has the same bolt pattern for the trans as a v-8.
My advise is change it to the 200 cuin or go ahead and install a 289/302. Its a bolt in either way and the V-8 requires the v-8 mounts and are available. There are still salvage yards that have the falcons with 200 and V-8 and I would shop in that direction. I put a 200 in the wife's Ranchero and I had a 65 sedan delivery with a 200 and went to the 302 and a c-4. The install is very easy.
Yup...what everybody's been sayin'... the 200 is the way to go if you're not going to do the V8. I swapped out a tired 170 in my 65 Falcon for a 200 out of a 72 Maverik. Piece of cake. It made quite a power difference, too.
