I'm a ***** and didn't get a rebuilt transmission a hamb member had for sale on here. My reverse is out on my '53 and I'm looking at options.

One question... I can't get a later cast iron powerglide and put the closed driveline tail on it, can I? That would make things a ****load cheaper. I'm this close to tossing it, getting a 350 with an adapter and running open bu I wanted to see what options before I do.

Kojack - I have a cast iron 'glide sitting under the work bench in the garage that is yours if you want it.
I don't know anything about it, beyond it coming out of a car that was converted to an open drive and it's free...

unless it is a concours show car, I don't see a reason to retain a powerglide, especially the first generation. it is so much nicer to have more gears and a higher cruising speed, the t5 i had behind my 235 was definitely worth the cost on a 5 hour trip. a 200-4r or 700r4 will work just as well as a th350 and pay you back with the od and the tv cable isn't an issue now that the aftermarket has figured them out.
