we cruise alki..........tacoma waterfront.........great music scene if u think it it rains here alot ur wrong today was in the 70's great car scene....
get on the N.W. HAMBers social group http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/group.php?groupid=110 and ask for the ****s they always have something going on in the Seattle area
Bring a bunch of granola bars and sticks and yarn so you can make gods eyes, cause they're a bunch of tree hugin hippies over there."Play Slayer hippies hate Slayer".. the words of the great Cartman.
When it's nice it's the most beautifull place, when it's raining it get's to your sycky..............
All kinds of traditional cars and hot rod stuff tp check out. Good swap meets, different events all summer and great scenic hi ways and byways to cruise.
just recently moved here and the car scene is very helpful and nice out this way! like stated above, great swap meets....and go out for rides whenever it's not raining or the there's not much snow on the ground
seattle's great. not sure about the car scene, but it's a great place in general. if you ever want to head south to portland, i can tell you what's what down here.
Good weather = Friday & Saturday nite local cruzin Lynnwood & Clearview. Also many others through out the wet side of the mountains. Lots of car shows & events listed in the local car magazine called "Cruzin".
We have "Real Mountains" and lot's of beautiful scenery so get ready for good seat time. Hard tops with wipers are best but lotsa raodster weather for us in the "Great Northwest". Two Goodguys shows, one in Puyallup and one in Spokane(east side of the state). Portland, Seattle, Monroe, Puyallup swap meets. lotsa goodies. PS: dont tell anybody, but, it doesn't "Always" rain and what if it does, so what! drive your friggin car!
We have an extended garage season because of the wet weather. Our group, the ****s, try to get together once a month or so to compare notes, BS, BBQ, drink beer and do guy stuff. The NW HAMBers have a monthly get together in Tacoma. Depending on where you relocate, the car scene can be pretty good from May until late September. We have a drive in restaurant 6 miles from our place that has a show every Sunday. There are excellent back roads almost everywhere for cruising with some outstanding destinations.
I went out to Portland Ore, and Seattle a few years ago to visit friends. Awesome place, and lots of vintage iron out there still driven daily (at least that was the case in Portland.) Good luck on the move! I'd love to get out there again.
sorry dont want to hijack the thread- I'll be there (kirkland/bellevue) in mid June any car related stuff to see (last time I was there I thought I saw a yard with old iron in woodinville(?)
We moved to the Pacific Northwest from SoCal. and would never think about going back. The drives are awesome, lots of country roads with farms and old iron if you explore. Micro brews and coffee houses everywhere. The people are great. Where I live we average 70 inches of rain and 25 snow. We don't call it rain anymore, it's just humidity... Find a place to keep your vehicles inside cause if it sits outside for very long they will turn green.
lots of posers, you'll only see the occasional car in the summer, the rest are hidden away, waiting for a car show....even me and Dug only show if there is money in it
If you get tired of the Seattle "mist", just two hours east is the high desert, starting at Ellensburg. Yes, Eastern Washington! I'm in Pasco, lots of way fun things to do AND rustfree tin!
Yea Seattle is great. Best place to live in summer. And I have a house for sale at the north end of lake Washington. 360 degree hotrodding. feder
On the wet side of the Cascades there is always at least one rod trot within an easy drive from most areas any weekend. Pickup a copy of Cruzin magazine at either Fred Meyers or Top Foods (easy places to usually find one) and it carries the schedule for most all of the car events in the PNW. Even if you don't do the run/show thing on a regular basis there are so many destination spots that are just fun to go to for a day or weekend that you will always have somewhere to take a ride to. I live over on the "quote" dry side where I am three hours from Seattle, Portland or Spokane. we have the wine country to tour, lots of sunshine in the summer and some good car events.
im with ****gy LOTS of loggin trails and Backroads to play Dukes of Hazzard hahahaha quite fun i say!!
It only ranks 44th on the most rainfall for major cities in the US BUT it rains over 150 days per year!
Unless you have changed your mind from the previous posts. Look up Upfront Images, LLC. They produce a schedule of events booklet for a couple bucks that lists all of the events in the NW. http://www.upfrontimages.com/
thanks for all the suggestions i really appreiciate it... the move will be an new experience... so kinda happy ill have the hot rod community to keep me company
for $75, I'll let the air out of their tires , no stopping or a drive by ! LOL I wouldn't live anywhere else, it's great here.
stroker'bu don't forget this museum in Tacoma: http://www.lemaymuseum.org/ There was a thread here a while back with pics. Gary
