So I started this chop when I started college, got it down where I thought it looked right, subtle and then got thrown on the back window,

I never cut the doors, so all I really did was cut the lid off and set it back down and burn it in place.

Bought my other shoebox and parked this car in the other pole barn... it was forgotten.

I'm gonna drive this motha in a week or too...

check this, I've had all kinds of time to do homework on chop tops- When I was at bleeds looking at his shoe, I had an apifamy or whatever... he walked the rear window up and shortend the package tray...

well i had another window, top from a shoe, cut the **** out of it to match my old hack up and it FIT PERFECT

    The roof is round

I canted the posts, cut the doors to fit, made sure the gaps are sweet ***ty... and kept fitting...

3" in front... 3 1/2 in back or maybe 4... its been a while.

its all about the lines, and the profile... I think I nailed it.

I bought this car when I was 15 and DESTROYED it... its got 68,000 original miles haha... It was parked by the time I was 21, torn apart and sanded down. I still have everything thank god.

My grandfather had a shoebox, they saved it.. planning on handing the 50 ford down to me. It was black.

My dad said he was gonna have it restored, but he really SOLD IT... sad ending...

but when i was 15, my mom found this car when we were up north, came back and picked me up to go garage saleing, came down the road it was parked...

I begged to go see it.. so we turned around. Not knowing my mom had already scoped it out.

I ended up buying it, sold my 4 wheeler and the rest is history. Drove the **** outta it... and learned what not to do with a flathead haha...

Little did I know it was a "get back" b/c of what my dad did, and I've loved these shoebox fords ever since.

    heres another shot.

the cool thing is theres no damn "dip" in the roof where the gl*** meets the roof line, its round... The window moved 5 inchs up, and i cut the other window out to the trunk so it fills the gap which is bad ***!

Some template work this week and ill have the rest filled, everythings tacked... so I cant wait to BURN it all in--

bugman i figured you would say that... never had the "right stuff" in the garage at stout anyways... now that im back home and settled in im starting to get a grip.

8 days haha... is that how long your gonna come visit so we can wack up the MERC!!! I cant wait, and we can make floors for it with the 13 guage box and pan, think about it.

I think we'll move that window up, It'll work perfect on the merc and will give some people in the back more head room.

    thanks guys-

Dude, I have a ****ed up way of doing everything. I actually lowered my rear window as well. I took an inch out between, the window and the panel above the trunk lid and then slid the whole works forward. I ended up adding 5 inches to the trucklid, instead of adding to the panel above the trunk lid........

    That looks great.
Glad I could help show you the light........HaHa

screw you jaker... haha- your lucky I dont come after you with the "sawzall" hahahahahahahaha you can keep your "billet rod" shoebox with your smokie and the bandit *** end!

I'm gonna put the flathead in it this week, after I grind out the 428 FE motor mounts from a ... lets put a BIG MOTOR in the '49 stage I went though...

I sold the 428 on ebay to buy a full house merc motor and the merc motor sold the day before I got the cash... biaaatch aint it.

I spent the cash on strippers...

I'm gonna buy tokyo's intake off the merc and buy him a 2 deuce... oh yeah...

Bleed I didnt even notice the trunk so it musta looked "right"... my window did drop about 1/2 to a inch lower too. It should work out great, and the best part is it doesnt look like a SQUASHED MELON.

Hey...those hinge screws acn be bought a Ace Hardware in stainless or mild steel with a recessed allen head. They're 5/16ths fine and I think a 3/4" or 1" will work out just fine. Worked for me...also, I drilled out my hinge pin holes to 5/16ths and cut off longer 5/16ths stainless bolts for new hinge pins. I got sick of not getting the rusty fasteners and hingepins out. Don't forget to use neversieze on the stainless stuff so it doesn't gall.
