    .025 wire...035 is too big

  3. Yeah, use .022 - .025" wire. Clip off the little dingle ball of wire when you first start.

should i get the new liner and everything for the thinner wire? and also get the thinner wire guides?

  5. I use the same liner in my Lincoln SP-170T for switching back and forth between .022 and .030 and .035 and it doesn't seem to have any problems. You need to switch tips, and you might need to change the roller or flip it to the smaller groove if your roller has two different size grooves cut in it. On mine you just loosen the set screw, pull it off and put it back on backwards to switch to the other groove. If yours only has grooves for .035", then maybe you need to buy a new roller with the smaller grooves on it.

shouldn't have to change the liner... but you'll have to flip the roller wheel, it should have both wire sizes on it. If you run the .25 on the .35 side of the wheel it'll just spin and not push the wire. Put your gas pressure at 25-30.

I weld sheet metal fine with .23 and using the settings on the welder.

  8. I have a Power MIG 180C and love it. For sheetmetal I usually run .023" wire and 75%/25% mix gas. I sometimes use .030" wire on sheetmetal panels when there is a larger gap.

Whatever you do, start with the setting for that wire, thickness of metal, and gas that the machine "recommends". Play with those settings until you find the sweet spot.

I used .023 wire on sheetmetal....hated it. Went to .030 and won't go back. The .030' "Twenty Gage" wire is even better.

Not familiar enough with the pm255 to make any suggestions on the setup.
