If the uphill bodyline on the front fender was eliminated they'd be killer.

    That one is ugly! :D

The '57-59 Plymouths and Desotos are killer though.

I agree. I like it the way it is as well. They are so bad ***. Granted, there are probably not a lot around anymore. I want one now........

  5. i think that where the inspiration for the bat mobile came about, lol. they are cool and would look great customised.

  6. Yeah, that uphill line on the fender is pretty ugly. And the huge bulbous roof is pretty ugly too.

I'm guessing you don't see a lot of these anymore is that they were probably all used in destruction derbies. And because they were ugly so they probably didn't sell really well either.

The thing with some old Mopars is that they're so ugly they're cool. Sometimes being ugly can be cool. But sometimes they're just ugly.

It looks like that is the result of designers trying to out-do each other after all the good designs were already taken...

  8. Do I remember one of these flying through the air and exploding in flames on "Road Warrior"?

  9. I think I saw a 2 door version in a salvage yard. It's been a while.

  10. Reminds me of the SNL skit where the voice over guy says....."and this team designed the car with ONE BIG DOOR"

I know of a Suburban Wagon,a '58 or '59 I think, a guy has had for a looong time. It sits in his driveway covered up with piles of junk. (pvc pipe and other "light" stuff)
Before he moved it to his driveway,it sat in front of his house. From what I could tell then,it's complete and fairly clean.

I love the fins on it. You see so many early 60's Chevy Wagons & Falcon wagons and what-not that this is cool.

Because they are weird and hard to come by.

You think they're ugly now... well in the late '60s and 70s there wasn't any nostalgia for them. They were crushed by the droves. It's a shame too. You could get them with Sonoramic cross ram inducted 361/383/413 engines and stick shifts. There were also single four and inline dual-four setups called Golden Commandos.

I sort of prefer '61s. I just can't get past the '60s fins. I don't know why they bother me, but it's like a girl with a big **** - a little TOO big. I dunno. There is a woman in Australia that is trying to register all known '61 Plymouth wagons. Which means they are rare enough to do that with! Try that with '57 Nomads...

    I tend to prefer the '57-59s to the later cars anyway. ;) :D Here's someone's customized '60.

They aren't popular because they are UGLY. They sorta fall into the same category as a 400 pound ******* dancer, nobody want to see them if they don't have to.

Most of these Mopar-wagons have the same roof-lines as my own '62 NewYorker has. The Plymouths (wagons) of this era don't really do it for me actually.
But I also think a HardTop-version is the way to go with these things. Pillarposts can make a wagon look a little 'grandpa-ish' very easy IMO.

Sorry but I have to dis-agree. On the car that is, not the 400 pound dancer. That I agree with.
