I got the pair of Lancasters from Fornier...I love them...I would recomend getting both units...switching jaws will make you crazy...I also purchased the foot stand from Harbor Freight...The Lancasters bolted directly on it...it also works great...I can't believe how much I have used them already....
Shane, maybe this isn't proper, but I'd be interested in hearing what sets Baliegh's apart from others on the market.Where is it made? features etc.I'd like to buy a set up from you guys but I want to know why I'd be paying more. Thanks
I think I spend my money carefully, BUT I went to a metal meet in Oklahoma and bought one of Kerry Pinkertons wheeling machines. This is unusual for me. I usually look around, see whats available and compare prices before buying. At first look, its instantly obvious that Kerry's machines are some of the very best available---at any price. I went home and searched the internet to compare what I had bought. No problem. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND Imperial Wheeling Machines by Kerry Pinkerton. Tell him I said so when you buy one.
Our MSS-18 is $395. It includes both shrinker and stretcher and the stand. It ships UPS in a 90 pound box. It is in stock, ready to ship.
This is totally false! The HF ones (and the WF ones most likely) are asian made knock offs. The Eastwood ones are made in the USA, but the same company thats been making them for several decades.
If you would like to see the difference from our shrinker / stretcher over the compe***ion, check these pictures out and it should answer any questions you have about the quality of the machine. Let me know if you have any questions on it. You can win one in the contest this week guys if you are still interested. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/s...d.php?t=375949 You can click on each picture to "zoom in" and check out a little closer view. http://www.bii1.com/metal-forming/shrinker-stretcher-16F.php
Another option: US Tool. https://www.ustool.com/store/cart.php?m=product_list&c=640 I've had one of these for probably 20+ years, put a lot o' miles on it, no broken or bent parts, jaw serations not worn. Helps to lube the pivots and grease the wedge area of the jaws. Best to get two bodies if it's in the budget. It's a pain having to change jaws if you over stretch/ shrink slightly.
Although a deep throat shrinker may come in handy at times, it is worth noting that you can make any shape you want with a common edge shrinker that has a 1" throat. When you shrink just the edge, you get more bang for your buck. The compound shape generated by shrinking just the edge is more dramatic than when you shrink deeply into a panel. Edge shrinking, and then stretching inboard and blending the two processes together by smoothing will make any shape you can make with a deep throat shrinker. An edge shrinker made in the U.S. is a bargain and a good tool investment. The edge stretcher is slightly less so. It is handy to have one, but you can easily stretch with a hammer over a flat steel surface instead. Shrinkers that grab the edge of the metal and squeeze it together as these types do, are more prone to make cracks on the edge of your work if you do a lot of shrinking in one spot. Other methods are more forgiving... tuck shrinking (cheapest method of all), and thumbnail die shrinking (a lot more money). Another interesting and inexpensive method is stump shrinking or the tuck puck, both of which allow stretching, shrinking, die-forming, and smoothing all in one simple tool. Here is the tuck puck: www.tuckpuck.com John www.ghiaspecialties.com
this is a great thread and everyone is civil...kudos to all....here is a cut and paste of a shrinker i made for a tech on another forum decided to do a little project thats been stuck in my mind for a couple days......this isn't my idea....the origional thing is called a tuck puck.....used some technology we used to scallop seats on chairs....made a few http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e292/garetth123/ministump2003.jpg[/img]
they are maple and cost is nothing....i used two diff. blade diameters and that gives you one on each side....i use em on my shot bag....
So do you just rotate the puck on the blade to get the concave radius? Do you gradually increase the depth? Watch out, fingers!!
yes about an 1/8 th at a time....can't even see the blade so you'd have to be trying to hurt yourself.....lol
I have to agree with the price deal and your explanation is worse than not posting the prices. So you do not want to note a list price? You are saying some dealers will charge more than this? If not why not post the suggested retail price and I guess let the dealers and buyer work out the so called deal. It is not like you are selling them under list on Ebay undercutting your retailers. The explanation makes no sense??? Good looking stuff but without pricing and with a lot of machines looking exactly like those on other sites only with a badge and different color it just appears to be a bad way to do business. So what are differences with your new style combo one machine shrinker stretcher and those sold for 30-40% less at other retailers and on Ebay. They appear to be a copy of that Euro Co that sell them on Metal Meet. Not attacking just you have to step back and listen to your potential buyers since you are fairly active on here. Thanks
