Hi thanks for responing. I really like what you did with your Falcon. I`ve got a 64 Futura conv. that I`m redoing now. Can you give me some ideas, ie: your suspension, do you like the handling etc of what `s done? Is it air bags? Also what size are the wheels, any mods to fit? Much appreciated, John.

I have amny of the same questions. I have a 64 hard top that i am looking to lower, so any and all information on where you bought your drop spindles or the steps you took would be helpful.

It's had a s*%tload of work done to it to get it to sit like this. First, the frame was tied and all the original rails were boxed for strength. Then, the frontend was dropped in favor of a heidt's mustang II with dropped spindles, tubular a-arms and coilovers. The motor was jacked up a few inches in the engine bay to keep it from hanging below the crossmember. Ditto the AOD ******. The exhaust was ran in the driveshaft tunnel as well so pretty much everything is flat with the floor. The rear floorpan was then moved up an inch to accomadate the frame ties without the stupid looking hump in the carpet that most people do. This way it looks stock from the interior. The rear is a nascar style setup with panhard bar, heimjoints and airbags. The trunk floor was cut and notched but made to look factory as well to accomadate the rear center section but if I could do it again, I would remove the rear wheelwells and do tubs and enlarge the relief to get the rear down another inch and have it ride like that. As it is I have to pump the rear up a little to get it to ride well and not bottom out. If you want to see pics go to hubgarage.com and look up 64sprint garage. There's quit a few pics of the car and suspension there. Hope this helps.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot. The cowl was seriously beefed up with steel 2x4's verticly on the sides, then tied together crosscar with 2"steel tubing and then tied in to the frame rails behind where the shock towers used to be which ties back into the 2x4s with tubing hidden behind the front fenders. I put a four core aluminum radiator with a 17" electric fan up front to cool the GT40 crate motor and built AOD ****** with 2800 stall for the cam. It's got a new narrowed currie 9" with 3:73 gears in the rear.
It's got bear brakes up front and explorer rear discs. It handles flat in the corners and rides pretty well. I like my cars stiff so all the rattles come out of a convertible for sure when you stiffen the ch***is. Problem is, after spending all the money and time, I had my first and second little girls and have no time to drive it so it's in the garage with my '63 tempest convertible. Also have a '48 chevy that is for sale because the only thing that gets driven is the bmw or mustang notchback. *****in car that I have had forever but when the economy comes back I may be lookin' to try to get rid of it and get some of my money back.
