Check it out.....its been with the same owner for 45 YEARS! Still has the tags on the front and center carbs, was converted to progressive linkage years ago, the scoops have some pitting, but hey its been in a barn under a bench for years....Found it on the local CL, had to pay over twice the small asking price but it was worth it....I may sell the intake later on, but, plan on keeping the rest for my PONTIAC 389!
Those J-2 engines were real strong. My bro-in-law killed a bunch of Ford 3 speeds with one in his '46 Ford pickup!
Great find. It's not often you find a setup with the origonal carbs. Most have been split up over the years and the carbs used for different applications. I'll bet more of the carbs have ended up on SBC's than anything else. Frank
Nice score, I dig the scoops! I got one at a swap meet here last fall. Going to hyjack the carbs for my 348 sometime. Anyone want to buy an olds intake?!? LOL.
Nice Score.... Rebuild it, put it on a rocket motor and run it in something cool.... The Olds Rocket 394 can be stroked to 3.96", with .030 over thats 432 cubes. I'm workin on one for my 57 Olds hardtop. Have a J2 intake, looking for the carbs, they are hard to find and $$. Might just have to go to the new demon 2 bbls if they can be adapted to that intake.
Great set-up! Too bad you couldn't score the rest of the J-2 package. Bad-Ass none the less. IMO, the J-2 equipped Oldsmobiles were the first real factory performance vehicles.
