After reading a great Tech archive article by oldcarmike, I decided to try upholstering the seat in my coupe. I made the seat from plywood and glued up foam to form the cushions. Adjusters are cut-down, cut-up Chevy pickup units. Sewing machine is a '48 Singer walking foot, the "seamster" is a '49 model and the seat goes in my '34! Anyway, this is the end result. I'm happy...I'm not gonna fool any pros, but I think it's OK and I did it myself. Oh, and Thanks, Mike
Great job, do mine. I'm running with the "drape something over the old shit" modification at the moment.
I did trim work for years, and from what I see, YOU have talent. That is a very nice looking job and you should be proud of it. I still have one of those old Singers too...they are way cool and will last forever!
You should be very proud of yourself, most people do not have the will power to even try doing their own upholstery.
That looks awesome, you did a great job. It's going to look great in your coupe, but now you'll have to do the rest of the interior!
Thanks for the positive comments. My hat's off to the pros, this took me quite a while and I re-did several steps. The good upholstery guys earn their money!
Looks great. Now I know where I can go for advice on my 56 upholstery this summer. find me a sewimg machine like yours - I'll even trade some inline parts for one!!!
Nice job. A while back I convinced myself I could figure out upholstery and just the other day a very well priced machine was on Craigslist so I bought it. I hope to have success as good as you did.
Dude thats not bad at all for your first try, that looks better than some "shops" work that i see. Dont tell your friends you did it, theyll all hit you up for free work.
Nice job. I have a hard time getting welting to look that good, and your pleats are nice and straight. Hats off!
Hey man totally bitchin'! Old Car Mike inspired me to get my own Singer 111 walking foot machine. I hope mine turns out halfway as nice!
