Help Q on 47 Ford rear end

    I'm sure this has come up a few times .
    I'm seeking any good info on banjo rear end , Axle housing repair for the outer wheel bearing area I have some pretty good piting from rust all the way around on one tube only (Left):confused:.

    Has any one had to repair theres if so I'm in need of advice on doing it ??

    You can buy a hardened sleeve to go on there after it is turned down to suit...any old Ford parts place. You'll need to find a shop with a big lathe.

    Ok so I'm understanding this rite it will need to be turned on a lathe?
    So would they need to remove the spring pearch to swing it on the lathe so it will balance rite also??

    It will be turned slow enough that the balance shouldn't matter much. I think it might be easier to find a different housing depending on your cir***stances...

    We are now offering this service. Price is $125.00 machine work , plus cost of sleeve. The axle is machined in a rotary grinder for true center. If interest PM for additional Info.

    Thanks for all the imput . I ordered this sleeve from Mac's just to see how much needs to come off the top lol It's .379 thick !!!!!
    How deep did Ol' Henery harden this serfice??
    Rotary grinding sounds like the ticket tho.. Thank you **** Let me chew on this for a min ..
