Got the rotating assembly back from the machine shop and put the slugs on the rods last night... I'll throw the rings on tonight.

Next week I'll pick up the block and get it ready and up on the stand. Still need to pick up a few things for the Hemi and I also need to figure out my oil pump and pan situation. I have an oil pump that I really want to run, but it's center sump and it's pretty tough to find a center sump pan for an early 331. They're just slightly different. Thinking about modifying the center sump pan I have and just running it. We'll see. Won't know until I get the block back.

First, NEAT car! Its got the "look" and seems to be built to be safe.

Second, It looks to me like the body started life as a late 1931 slant windshield fordor. It could have been built either by Briggs or Murray, Ford speced things tight so everything would interchange between all the late fordors. He wanted to avoid the fiasco of the 1929 and 1930 fordors where parts did not interchange between the Murray and Briggs.

The nice thing is the doors and body had lots of steel framing on the late 31's. The earlier "Murray" and "Briggs" featured wood body framing, wood door framing, and wood sill structure.

Yes SIR! You are correct! It started life as exactly that. But since I can't leave anything alone, it "lost a little weight" and gained a little more motor.:D

Here's how it looked in the beginning:

I've done a a few threads on the progressive build. Here's a search link that I think will bring them up. Let me know if it doesn't work.

Thank you very much for your compliments Karl!

Yeah! No kidding!! Seriously!!! That was a fuuuuun day! Do you remember the look on my face? I was super stoked!! :D:D

By the way. The old guy that was helping us (my neighbor) Jimmy, passed away recently. :(:( That guy was soooo amazing! I have his '27 5-bearing cam, 4-banger motor and I'm going to piece together a '28/29 pre-war lakes roadster with it on his behalf. Going to be awhile though. Sad loss! I know he ALSO really dug helping out with this car. I wanted more than anything to take that guy for a ride. He would have loved it!

Last pictures for this update. Thought I would just add these here real quick.

Spent my Easter in the shop, but good progress. Spent a TON of time trying to get the B pillar door jamb right and the door gap straight. Spent the rest of the day finish welding and fitting up the patch panels on the passenger side door and cowl. Needs a little more bumping and some adjustments around around the door gaps and body lines, but it's going in the right direction.

Saturday I spent most of the time cleaning up the chop seams on the roof top center and the passenger side pillars and rear corners as well as getting the quarter windows ready for garnish moldings and felt. I'm pretty happy with the results. Shouldn't need much if any filler in those locations.

    Alright... until next time...

    Thanks guys!

I want to get everything to that level of finish before I do anything. I'm not afraid to use a little filler, but I want to keep it to a minimum, obviously. For me, getting that kind of fit takes awhile though. I guess the more I do it the better I'll get at it. I BOW DOWN to people who can get good straight panel fitment with minimal work. Amazing!
